MONTANA STATE is one of ISU's home non-conference opponents...just ahead of their huge matchup with "Johnson and Wales" and right
on the heels of their game vs. transtitional D-II/D-I Seattle......Wow, the ISU game might just be a "trap game"!!

BTW -- the MVP of the playoffs last year was Illinois' James Augustine who has now left CB Canarias and signed with an Italian team, so Koshwal will fill their needs.

...the issue in almost all these cases of top recruits not being cleared is the issue of contact with agents, thus maybe these guys are NOT amateurs!

There are numerous reasons.

The simple answer is everyone is afraid to play.

The more complicated answer is some teams require x # of home games in order to pay its bills and stay within budget. This is true for smaller schools too, and that's why so many of them play non-DI's.

Some schools who believe they have a real good team want to go out and challenge themselves. However, the coaches know who poses a serious threat and therefore will avoid those kinds of teams.

As is the case for BU and its tournament, there are a lot of schools jockeying for better offers and still unclear as to what they are needing so they can't really sign any contracts while dates and even tourneys are in limbo.

Also for smaller schools, they aren't always willing to travel due to budgetary concerns. Not all DI teams have access to charter planes or close access to airports so they can only travel via bus or train. So that might limit further the schools that they can play.

Those are just some of the basic reasons.

But I agree, it shouldn't be as hard as coaches make it. But the bottom line is they are all too scared for their jobs so they are cautious to a fault.

Sometime it has everything to do with available date slots. I know last year we had contact with St.Mary's and both teams were willing to go on the road but the dates both teams had just did not work.
