Here's what has been released thus far...
#144 South Carolina - 10th in SEC
#143 Quinnipiac - 1st in NEC
#142 Wyoming - 7th in MWC
#141 Charleston - 3rd in Southern Conference
#140 Jackson State
#139 Santa Clara
Here are the next four just posted..... #138 Tennessee Tech
#137 Wake Forest
#136 Siena
#134 Princeton[/QUO
what happened to wake????
Ever since Illinois stomped them in 04-05 at assembly hall.....they have never been the same!
Here is another site doing a Top 65 team countdown...although they actually appear to be doing a BCS team countdown and have largely ignored all teams except the big six conference guys
#65 Princeton
#64 St. John's
#63 Indiana (you have got to be kidding!)
#62 Wake Forest
#61 George Mason
#60 Cincinnati
#59 Arizona State
#58 Northwestern
#57 Florida State
#56 Clemson
#55 Louisville
#54 NC State
#53 Texas Tech
And, then, as if it relevant, these guys are ranking the same thing =-- the TOP 99 college basketball teams.......
..but the guy says in advance he has alotted 72 slots to the power conference teams and just 27 slots to the other 275 mid-majors
they literally blow all their credibility by starting off their countdown with...
#99 Iowa (they are in shambles)
#98 Rutgers (they lose all their top players and scorers from a 14th place Big East team - return only 5 scholarship players, plus start from scratch with a new coach)
#97 Iowa State (likewise starting over with virtually nobody!)
#96 DePaul (seriously?? The only decent players they had left and nobody who scores over 6 ppg & hits 35% on FG returns)
Iowa is the 99th and Iowa St is the 97th best team if Bradley is the 15th. No way. Iowa is about the 200th and Iowa State (who lost nearly their entire team from last year's bottom of the barrel Big 12 team) is about the 250th.
If the countdown claims to be finding the actual 99 best teams in college basketball, they shouldn't give any merit to awful BCS teams like Iowa, Iowa St, Rutgers, Nebraska, Colorado, and DePaul.
Considering there's 73 power conference teams, I'd hate to be the one that missed the list.
Going off of that premise, it makes sense for Iowa and ISU to be in the last four teams with Rutgers and whomever else. Going to be some bad basketball in Iowa this year. ISU has a very good back court of Diante Garrett, Demarcus Phillips, Darion Anderson and Scott Christopherson, but our front line players will be young and mediocre (unless White is somehow eligible). Iowa returns some decent players and adds a solid player in Basabe, but they will not be all that good IMO. They will work hard and play hard IMO.
