Former Bradley assistant being considered for UIC job?

The only D1 school with an open head coaching position is UIC, after Jimmy Collins abruptly announced his decision to retire last week-

One possible candidate to succeed Collins was former UIC assistant Tracy Dildy. However, Dildy was just named head coach at Chicago State-
Here is one writer's list of some other possible candidates.
The #1 guy on this list is former BU assistant Howard Moore. However, I think it's more likely that one of the others on the list will get the job.
But don't put it past the adminitrators at UIC to screw this up.-

Nebraska is joining the Big Ten, so that would put Webster back in the Big Ten. However, if true, it doesn't say much for the UIC job that he would prefer to be a 1st year assistant under a coach who will likely be "on the hot seat", rather than a D1 head coach at UIC.

Now the UIC job has one less candidate, perhaps meaning that Jerrance Howard and Howard Moore may be one step closer to getting the job. I am hearing Jerrance really wants this job.

Jerrance Howard has reportedly withdrawn his name --

"UI assistant JERRANCE HOWARD recently had expressed interest in the head coaching opening at UIC - but he no longer is pursuing the position. It's unclear whether UIC had expressed interest in Howard.

'After talking to coach (BRUCE) WEBER and my family, the best situation for me, as a young coach, is to focus on what we're doing here,' Howard, 30, said today. 'Then at some point when the time's right, hopefully I can put myself in position to become a head coach, (because) that's what I want to be.'"

UIC is reported to have narrowed their choices for a new head coach to 5 finalists-
Wisconsin assistant Howard Moore
Michigan State associate head coach Mark Montgomery
Minnesota assistant Vince Taylor
Memphis assistant Willis Wilson
University of New Orleans coach Joe Pasternak.


This article also states that one of the candidates that has been eliminated is former Bradley assistant coach Tony Barone, who is now serving as Director of Player Personnel with the Memphis Grizzlies.-

I have heard from a different source that the UIC job may be down to 2 finalists- Howard Moore (Wisconsin assistant) and Mark Montgomery (Michigan State assistant).

ESPN quotes UIC Athletic Director yesterday and reports there are five finalists- the guys you listed yesterday morning..
Then last night ESPN's Andy Katz confirmed those same five guys...

Apparently Jerrance Howard was the guy they wanted but that Howard himself withdrew...
The New Orleans guy is an interesting selection...since he's not a very familiar name, and in his 3 years there his career record is 38-54, and worse each year that he's been there than the prior year...8-22 this past season now that he had all his ownplayers....
New Orleans is ending its affiliation with D-I and is dropping to D-II.
I'm gonna stick my neck out and say I think this guy does not get the UIC job.
