I'm hoping it might be a timing issue. With the meetings not taking place until the summer, most teams probably already have a majority of their schedule set for next season. As a result, it may be harder to institute a monetary penalty policy because schools do not have enough time to change their schedule and may have already signed scheduling contracts.

I don't see any major scheduling philosophy change as a result of this policy. What I like though is that it sends a sign that the conference is once again paying attention to scheduling. Hopefully, this is a shot across the bow to wake up certain institutions that are loading up on cupcakes.

Interesting comment in the Pantagraph today...
ISU's Tim Jankovich knows he can get a BCS school on the schedule but he chooses NOT TO...
      He says...
"the Redbirds are trying to hold out as long as possible in terms of getting a BCS conference school on the schedule for a home-and-home series."

In a companion column, John Wilkins says he has heard that when he comes to Peoria people are going to boo him.
"Wilkins realizes there will be a hostile reception for him when the Redbirds play Bradley in Peoria this season.
“I heard that people are going to boo me,..."

I am definitely NOT going to boo the kid...he owes me nothing and has not done a thing to deserve booing...
I wish the kid well and he made the choice he needed to make under a tough set of breaks the NCAA and NJCAA and Iowa legal system gave him..
Contrary to the way some fans act (and I can't speak for others..)...I never boo opposing players...never......I might have a few comments for them but not booing...
I think all BU fans should show him the class that he will never see at ISU by NOT booing the guy when he's here.....

I can boo as loud as I want...from my couch at home. Good point here Tornado. I hope we don't lower our standards. We should make our presence known through cheering our Braves. I was rather disappointed from my only trip to a Braves game last year (in Peoria). The fans were on their rears practically the whole game and the boos (at refs) were as loud as the cheers for our good performance on the court (vs. MSU)
I think most of us are still bitter about the whole situation. I hope when the 'Birds come to Carver, we'll be looking down at them in the standings and won't feel the need to harass the kid. I do wish we had someone like MO who could shake him up a little bit in the paint to let him know that we didn't forget about the decision he made.

Agreed. I am very much anti-Boo. I just don't do it. I don't boo the opposition, I don't boo the officials, and I don't boo my favorite teams. I am not "get on the official guy". Sorry if this offends, but that guy drives me nutes. People who talk more about the officials show very little knowledge about the game, IMO.

But I won't boo John Wilkins. I would be surprised if he even plays much.

I don't have a problem booing the opposition or the refs. As we saw/heard at more than one game last year.....there were a good number of Bradley "fans" that decided to boo our own program. I will never do that!

I won't be surprised if John Wilkins is playing much by the time they come to Peoria!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I want people to boo because it's ISU, not because it's Wilkins.

I rarely boo specific players. Wilkins may be an exception. I most often boo refs, I guess.

Jeez I had no idea you guys were so nice.

                    1. How many people besides us even know who Wilkins is? I guarantee that no more than 10 kids in the SS will know.

A guy toys with Bradley.......then of all the schools in the world he chooses ISU. I am going to boo him just like I boo every ISU player. It is part of coming to Peoria, into your rivals house. I can't believe the majority of people on here sit and only make noise when cheering for the Braves......sounds like Augusta.

I may bring a sign that is in French....that is fair right?

PS: I have heard reports that Wilkins is playing very very well this summer in practice and pick up games.....

Shaun. Fans have the right to boo. I don't have to like it, you don't have to like it. Just because a fan boos "his" team doesn't make him less of a fan. He just shows his emotions differently.

I realize I'm in the minority with officials. I don't yell at them. I don't boo them. I do know they get paid WAYYYY too much I don't boo the opposing team and I've never booed a Bradley team or player. I wish people didn't but it doesn't make me a better fan than them.
