When BU had both Patrick O'Bryant and Brandyn Heemskerk, it was said to be the first time that BU has ever had two 7-footers, and when they were both playing in a game simultaneously, it was the first time in the Missouri Valley that a team had played two 7-footers at the same time.

As I looked back at some various reports about the recruits Bradley will have in the next two years, I found some optimism that it could happen again in the near future for Bradley.

Anthony Thompson is 6-10, and one of posters, a very savvy basketball expert who posts under "tiptop", said he had seen Anthony, and gave this report:
"I saw Anthony Thompson this past summer in an event in Las Vegas. He is going to be the real deal! He is long, athletic and extremely mobile up and down the court.
He weighs about 210 now, and will be about 240 when it is all said and done, because he has a great frame to build upon. He is still very immature, but in two years he will fill out and be a monster in the MVC. He may even grow another inch or two. "

Xavier Crawford has been listed at 6-11 since he was a junior in high school, but after he enrolled at Yuba College (junior college) he was said to be 7 feet tall.

Will Egolf is 6-9, but in the private communication I got from one of his coaches (which I shared with some of you) he gave reason to be hopeful that Will is also still growing.
So with three kids coming to Bradley in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 that possibly one, or more of them could be around 7 feet tall, I am really looking forward to seeing all those athletic big men play!

I share these sentiments. It has been believed by some in the past that its hard (some would say nearly impossible) to lure quality big men of that size to a league like the MVC, and thus the league has been a guard-dominated one. However, with the success of frontcourt-oriented teams like BU and WSU last year, and their centers moving on to the NBA, I feel that may be changing. IMO I don't think some of the league coaches have, for lack of a better term, tried hard enough to land or given enough time to potential 7 footers who might be a couple of years away from contributing. With the near-overnight success of Patrick O'Bryant, I think that philosophy may be changing too.

I look forward to seeing our future big men develop into one of the top frontcourts in the country.
    Onward and Upward!
