  • John Wall pro debut

buried deep behind all the drivel about LeBron is the fact that "the next LeBron"
is making his pro debut right now...

at half of the Las Vegas summer league game Washington trails Golden State 37-35...very low scoring...
and John Wall has played more than any other player thus far...17 minutes...
    and is 3-8, and 0-1 from 3pt,
he has 9 pts, 1 rebound, 3 assists, and FIVE turnovers...
Thankfully his teammates are keeping him close...

In reality, Wall has been a pro for the past year at Kentucky.
It will just take a few years before we hear the truth about Calipari's bagmen who have been paying those guys.

no, we might not hear the truth because nobody - especially nobody at NCAA is interesting in finding it....
as long as those big programs like Kentucky, USC, etc..generate big revenue...

Remember all those stories about middlemen and "street agents" handing envelops full of $100 bills to USC basketball coach Tim Floyd??
The NCAA barely mentions them when in fact they should have named them and identified them in their report!!!!

In their official report on USC here are the exact statements...

"agency partners gave the former football student-athlete (Reggie Bush) and his family impermissible benefits including several thousand dollars" (never names them or even describes who they are)

..the report goes on to talk of agent connections and failure to cooperate..but then shifts to this talk of OJ Mayo..

"The case also includes multiple impermissible inducements and extra benefits for a former men's basketball student-athlete, his brother, his girlfriend and his girlfriend's mother..."

...but it never details the enormous amount of all that cash....possibly into the $300,000 range for Bush and lots more for Mayo...
..the report does make a big deal of..
"a former women's tennis student-athlete used an athletics department long-distance access code to make 123 unauthorized international telephone calls to family members. The total value of the calls is more than $7,000."

so there....they made a specific point of labeling the tennis people at USC bad because of the $7000!! But the tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars given to Bush & Mayo are glossed over and described as simply "several thousand dollars".
Why does the NCAA do this?? Why are they covering the a$$es of those USC cheaters...
why then did the basketball program get absolutely no additional penalty from NCAA - almost as if they are being rewarded and given nothing!!!

Pretty impressive performance last night for Wall in my estimation. Turned it over eight times which is obviously way too much but scored 24 points, dished out eight assists and iced the game with two late free throws. The kid is an absolute blur.

That said, the most impressive guy in Wall's debut was Reggie Williams, who had 34 pts in 34 mins for the Warriors and is currently penciled in as the team's starting small forward. Williams emerged from the D-League to average 15 ppg for Golden State last year (in about 25 games) after leading the nation in scoring twice at VMI and then spending a year in France in the same league as Cellus. Definitely proof that, if you're willing to go to the D-League and work hard, you can make it. Wish POB had a sliver of his work ethic.

By the way is Patrick under contract for next year? I am not sure if he will be picked up if he isn't under contract still.

I bet there is another league out there that would like a young 7'! Still to early to give up a nice pay check.

Perhaps a new Sports Forum could be added to B-F.Com called "NCAA CHEATER$" to allow Mr T, and others, to consolidate, and focus, all their passion about NCAA crooks in one spot instead of constantly spreading it out among many different threads in 'Basketball Fan Talk'?

As with ALL threads and posts there is absolutely NO reason to read or belittle. If the thread holds no interest simply skip it..... No one's holding a gun to your head. If the board finds it to be of no interest no one will view or respond. Obviously, some found this thread relevant enough to view it and respond.

I know you added a wink, smile and laugh AZ BU Fan, but it still seems like a rather passive aggressive way to get in a "dig" at someone. No offense meant, my friend. Just my thoughts.

"The Minnesota Timberwolves summer roster has a local flavor this year.

In addition to top draft pick Wesley Johnson and second-year players Jonny Flynn and Wayne Ellington, Blaine native Patrick O'Bryant will get a chance to make an impression on a team looking for help in the front court."

                        Good luck POB!

Passive, aggressive digs at posters are my speciality B4L! You are right, I shouldn't have made it personal.

Hopefully it wasn't as bad as the active, aggressive digs at posters who are deemed "haters" by others?

I am not arguing censorship of people's posts, or that some viewers may really be interested about feelings others have about the latest NCAA Member infractions and NCAA Double standards, but these particular latest rants on NCAA cheaters and NCAA Org double standards were snuck into a thread about JW's pro debut...Why not consolidate these type of posts into one ongoing thread or a separate Forum on cheating?

BTW...John Wall had a pretty good opening game!

We should all try to stick to the subject matter in the thread. I'm guilty of going off on tangents myself.
