Ex-Brave Jason Faulknor playing for Jamaican National Team

Jason Faulknor was still playing professional ball for the Australian team, Lakeside Lightning of the Western Australian Basketball League (WABL), up thru 2009......they won their 2009 league championship.
Last year with the Lightning he averaged 16.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 2.2 spg!!!
He also played in their All Star Game last August.

congrats to Jason...we all know he hails from Etobicoke, Ontario, but he is of Jamaican lineage thus eligible for the National Team..
they are playing in the Centro Basketball Tournament in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Jamaican National team begins play today against the Dominican Republic but is without three of their best players, Samardo Samuels (on Bull's summer league roster), Tulsa's Jerome Jordan, and Patrick Ewing, Jr (also playing in NBA summer leagues).

If they fail to finish in the top four of this tourney, they will not be eligible to compete for a spot in the 2012 Olympics.

Jamaica lost to Dominican Rep. 68-62, with the Dominican Republic's Charlie Villanueva scoring 13 pts, 5 rebs.
Georgetown's Roy Hibbert had 19 for Jamaica, and Garfield Blair had 15.

Jason Faulknor did play and logged 11 minutes, was 0-3, but grabbed 3 rebounds and had two steals...

Jason is retired from pro play but one of his teammates who also played on that Jamaican team is sadly in the news and it's such a shocking story - it may end up making the news over here..

The very best player on that Jamaican Olympic team was Kimani Ffriend - who is now in some very deep trouble playing in Serbia...
