  • DePaul recruit wants out

The DePaul recruit that wanted out a month ago and was denied release by DePaul has filed an appeal with NCAA...
and guess what he cites as a reason.........

"The family also cited Chicago's crime rate as a deterrent."
One hundred years provides more than several lifetimes full of highlights, some lowlights, and many memories. Here’s a look at 100 years of the Western Golf Association and the Western Open. …

Pitchford's connection to DePaul was Billy Garrett who coached Walter's older brother at Hales Franciscan in Chicago, when the Pitchford family lived there several years ago.
BTW -- Garrett is still there and was not fired.

Walter Pitchford and his whole disgruntled family who all played the game with DePaul before renegging on his LOI,
appears to now be headed to the sinkhole for all disgruntled recruits, FIU, and Isiah Thomas.......
I wonder if that whole program is gonna self-destruct the way Baylor did a few years ago under Dave Bliss with all those disgruntled transfers.......

Even with a couple decent players last year under Isiah, they beat only 6 other D-I opponents (and had 25 losses) finishing the campaign on a 9-game losing stretch.
One of Isiah's best players, Phil Gary, was the top player for Willie Scott at Malcolm X juco...and another is an ex-Boys to Men kid

Chicago's crime rate? DePaul is in Lincoln Park, one of the ritziest neighborhoods in the city! It's about the equivalent of saying you don't want your kid to live on Grandview Drive because of Peoria's high crime rate. Silly.
      Onward and Upward!

Pitchford's family also took the haggard old line...
"we want him playing closer to home"....as well.

and guess what...now they're checking out South Florida....really lots closer to their home in Michigan....yeah, right........

the sad, sad saga of this fairly highly rated kid, Walter Pitchford continues...
After jerking around a couple programs ..DePaul, FIU...he ended up aiming WAY, WAY too high and landed at Florida...and saw the floor only about a minute per game...
Now he's leaving again - but the kid has talent...I hope he finds the right place.....
