I am sure there are two sides to this story - but it is a tough situation for Marvin...
anyway - the newspaper column had some quotes supposedly from Ball State head coach Billy Taylor...
But - was the Ball State coach quoted directly or were his words reported via hearsay thru the Manual coach?
Wouldn't it be a violaiton of NCAA rules if Taylor spoke to a reporter about Marvin Jordan...who is not signed at Ball State - in fact he isn't "signed" anywhere - as it's too late now to sign?

Funny how if a player signed a LOI then wanted to back out the school could fight him tooth and nail and not allow a release of the LOI, but if it is the other way around it seems perfectly fine with no recourse for the player.
What Ball State did was beyond shady. Using a person like they are some pawn. What if Jordan had no other options to go to, did he have any recourse v Ball State... doubtful but I guarantee if he would have played Ball State they would have made his life miserable.
Disgusting.

The Ball State coaching staff actually has strong Peoria ties. Billy Taylor's director of basketball operations is Mitch Gilfillan, who played point guard at Notre Dame in Peoria and then played the same position for Taylor at Lehigh University. Taylor has an outstanding rep as a coach and Gilfillan is supposed to be a terrific kid. Doesn't make this situation any less ugly though.

Like others have stated there is always two sides to the story... Many of you are saying Poor Marvin Jordan... What if he just didn't get things done that he needed too... Like grades, core classes, act score, etc... Why waste your time and deal with the hassel of an athlete who has a hard time in the classroom in high school.
Manual isn't particularly known for its high academic standings...
Not saying its Marvin Jordan's fault or the schools fault there is just alot of things that could have happend....And I am just expressing some of the things that others haven't brought up.

There are basic requirements for D1 athletes. However, each school can set there own requirements to what they want to some sort of degree.
Marvin can get into Niagra could he get into Holy Cross or Lafayette.. still scholarship schools but just take a little more pride in the academic part..
It can be argued both ways all day long..
