  • Memphis trying to buy its way into a BCS conference

They actually do have football..but how many people even knew that...?
They went 2-10 last season against a horribly weak schedule, and have only beaten
one BCS team in the past two decades (Ole Miss '03).......

Do you blame them? I wish BU had a benefactor like FedEx to make sure we land on our feet when the dust settles. This just screams what direction this whole realignment is headed.

No - but it's a little like offering $10 million to buy a seat on a Titanic lifeboat...
-first - who's gonna give theirs up and $10 million still isn't enough
-second - even if they get into a BCS conference, they'll get killed by everyone and their little sisters....they even lost to Middle Tennessee this past year!

. . .Everyone who follows college football! Not that long ago they had a couple good teams in a row featuring DeAngelo Williams, who was considered a threat to win the Heisman.

Exactly! They were once good at "their level" but tried to "up" their game..... They've failed.

They tried to up their game by doing what?
            Not improving their facilities
            Not changing conferences

It might have looked rosy for them, and their was talk that they could be considered for the BE, but nothing came of that and they slid back down to the level they were at before. They are still a cyclical C-USA team same as they were back then.

They have the same profile as Syracuse really, great basketball program, afterthought football program.

You're right Fetz. I'm wrong. I got Memphis confused with Marshall. Marshall's program lost their luster once they joined C-USA five years ago. I don't think they've been above .500 since.
