  • Gordon reportedly going to Indiana

I have no idea how valid the source, but one blogger who claims to have gotten it from a source at Indiana says Gordon has decided to attend Indiana.

This will start the final meltdown if true.

There is not a lot of reaction on the Illinois and Indiana boards, yet, since this was just posted a few minutes ago. But the Indiana board is already setting records for traffic today, so we should know soon if it will be confirmed. Both schools' fans will go nuts.

I have a question - why does it seem that a run to the NCAA championship game and an unforgettable season not equated to top of the line recruiting at U of I? Is Weber a really a poor recruiter? Are there any answers as to what's going wrong for him? I hate to say this but he made his big run with Bill Self's recruits.

      Can anyone say Charlie Villaneuva?

It looks like the original thread relating to this blog and the report of Gordon's decision has been deleted from the Illini boards, both the Premium board and the free one. This is typical of the Illini board. They allow all kinds of the wildest rumor and speculation, but when it's something negative toward Illinois, it's usually deleted immediately.

A second thread was just started and quickly drew 5 replies, then it was deleted.

Here is the discussion on the Indiana board

          Please make it stop.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Da Coach, I think this is very valid. I know someone very connected in the U of I program and they know Gordon is going to Bloomington IU. The saving grace is IU will be on pro sooner than later. This Sampson is bad news. Can't believe IU would hire him. I thought BK was bad. He's a saint copared to KS.

wily, I think if he's done nothing else, Sampson has done one thing that will surely come back to haunt him.

He has set the standard in recruiting that a verbal is now meaningless.
The next time Sampson gets a verbal from an Illinois kid, watch for Bruce Weber to keep recruiting him. It will get ugly but Sampson will not be getting away without repercussions.

tornado, I surely agree with you in that aspect. It might get awful ugly in the recruiting wars with IU.
