I never imagined IZZO would leave Michigan State, and owe them $500,000 to boot, but the Cavs are talking up to $6 million a season for 4 or 5 seasons!
I would really hate to see Izzo leave. IMO he is clearly the best coach in college basketball and one of the 'Good Guys.' Seeing him mentioned along with Sampson and Calipari is disappointing.
wow! Though if he is maybe thinking of retiring in the next few years...take the money and bank it. I mean he will be able to get pretty much any college job in a few years if it didn't work out and he wanted to come back.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.
Peter Vescey is reporting in the NY Post that Lebron is going to sign a short-term deal with the Cavs (3 years) and if it doesn't work out there, he's going to go to NY and play for Jay-Z with a 'clear conscience' that he gave Cleveland 10 seasons. We're in the full 'backroom deal' mode at this point...
One hundred years provides more than several lifetimes full of highlights, some lowlights, and many memories. Here’s a look at 100 years of the Western Golf Association and the Western Open. …

That would be one hell of a chance he will be taking but a huge upside if he stays healthy. As a fan you have to like that a layer is willing to do something like this.

Lebron is such a saint staying with the poor team than can give him a larger contract than any other (although I realize sponsorship deals may be guaranteed larger overall in NYC)

I think such a deal with Lebron would have to be made or if I were Izzo, NO WAY would I leave everything he has now and work for, at his age to go to a team that would be NOTHING without Lebron
I admit, I don't watch a whole lot of ESPN commentary - simply because I really don't care what those people think....their main intent is to create controversy, get viewers, and sometimes it even appears their main intent is to act like idio*ts....generally disagreeing with each other, ripping on Charles Barkley, and giving widely differing opinions so that on most topics, the ESPN guys are wrong 75% of the time.....
Most times, I try to draw my own conclusions, but it is interesting that Vecsey talks LeBron going to New York...
New York currently is a terrible place to go to play basketball...and Vecsey is widely "reviled" for his truly stupid comments and incorrect reports and predictions....if he ends up being right he'll brag about it...but in the end he's likely to be wrong and it'll never get remembered or brought up again.
I hope he stays @ MSU or at least in the college ranks. The 1 question I would have is how much more can MSU afford to pay him as you know he will go back and say I really want to stay BUT-and that is the big question is how much more can they afford to pay.
Will it become a Calipari type contract that is guaranteed from MSU-if it is he stays at MSU-if not then he goes to the pros-I think he stays at MSU w/ about 3-4 million (closer to the 4 million mark) a year for 10 years guaranteed IMO
Brian Gregory to MSU? Or Tom Crean? Both have strong ties back to Izzo there...
Not sure what this means. If LBJ wants to win, hitching your wagon to a college coach doesn't seem like the best way to do that.
The Score was reporting around 4:00 that Chicago had offered Izzo according to one of the MSU Trustees. The guys at the station were saying that they think it was more than likely just a feeler to see if he would be interested and not a true $$ offer.
Still very surprised Izzo would leave for the NBA.
Really wonder if it's a signal Lebron would stay? Can't imagine Izzo would sign-up without a clear indication Lebron is staying. Suppose if Lebron announces he's staying early, then that could help Cleveland land other top free agents.
