Just drafted in the 13th round by the Cincinnati Reds. I would think he would sign being drafted that high, but you never know. Certainly wouldn't help the Panthers if he does.

This has to hurt UNI if he does
Besides little Koch, do they have any other Bigs?
Maybe the UNI team will resemble the BU team after our Sweet 16 run, featuring a 4-guard line-up.

UNI also has a 6-10 kid, Austin Pehl, who only played in 6 games last year as a redshirt freshman.
Their 2010 recruits include-
Nathan Buss, 6'8", 200 lbs.-

They would also have had 6'8" Doug McDermott, but he backed out of his commitment, and is now at Creighton.
Are there any other redshirt players?

Lucas said on the news tonight that he will be back for basketball this year. He told the Reds (and other organizations) that he had a strong desire to come back for his senior year. I guess the Reds told him that he could play short season ball this summer and then go to school next year, while then returning to the organization next Spring. Best of both worlds I guess.
BTW, UNI's posts next year look like:
Jake Koch 6'9"
Lucas O'Rear 6'6"
Austin Pehl 6'10"
Chip Rank 6'6"
Tyler Lange 6'6" walk-on
And then there will have to be a decision made regarding whether or not Nathan Buss redshirts. Very offensively skilled, but needs to put on weight. Could use a redshirt year for strength purposes.

Lucas O'Rear signed a contract late Friday to play professional baseball with the Cincinnati Reds...
there is no word yet on whether the contract will allow him to also play basketball for UNI next season, but I would suspect the Reds want to protect their investment and may not allow him to play..he is leaving for rookie league and will play in Goodyear, AZ. He is pegged as a hard throwing closer....
