  • Future BU opponents' non-conference schedules

I guess the previous thread on other teams' non-conference schedules got hijacked and dissed...so here's a new one....

Utah is a future BU opponent, and they have now released their non-conference schedule.......

    University of Utah Men's Basketball
    2010-11 Non-Conference Schedule

20 Saturday Weber State Salt Lake City
24 Wednesday at Utah State Logan, Utah
27 Saturday Oral Roberts Salt Lake City
30 Tuesday Fresno State Salt Lake City

7 Tuesday Pepperdine Salt Lake City
10 Friday at Michigan Ann Arbor, Mich.
18 Saturday Oregon Salt Lake City
22 Wednesday TBD (Diamondhead Classic) Honolulu, Hawaii
23 Thursday TBD (Diamondhead Classic) Honolulu, Hawaii
25 Saturday TBD (Diamondhead Classic) Honolulu, Hawaii
31 Friday at Portland Portland, Ore.

    Utah's All-Time Record vs. ...
    Bradley 3-2 (2-1 at Bradley)
Last meeting: Utah 83, Bradley 49; Dec. 5, 1992; Peoria, Ill.

Their coach, Jim Boylen names Bradley among their
    "stiff non-conference" opponents..
and "We have stayed true to our philosophy of playing a difficult non-conference schedule
that includes teams from the top leagues across the country. Our team and coaching staff
are very excited about the opportunity to participate in big games at great venues. Our goal
is always to get into the top 25 and compete for an MWC championship. I think this schedule
will prepare us to reach both of those goals."

It looks like ISU is FINALLY upgrading their schedule. Ohio, UIC, UNLV, and UL-M are DEFINATELY an improvement over the garbage they've scheduled in past years.

Of course, Ohio and UIC are games they scheduled last year too, and UNLV was scheduled for them Their latest addition is a home and home with UNCW - a H&H with a CAA school isn't a bad idea, although UNCW has regressed mightily.

An ISU fan who is disappointed wants me to let you know that Basset....who averaged 17.2 points a game was kicked off the team....so Ohio won't be as good as they could have been.

UNLV is the only team I see as a good game and like said above that wasn't their choice.

EDIT: The general consensus among ISU fans is disappointment...if you read the thread about this on redbird fan

As many an IU fan watched the NCAA Tournament in March, it was only natural to ponder what might have been. As former Hoosiers like Armon Bassett and Jordan Crawford had their one shining moment, Indiana missed the tournament for ...

Last year's attempt from ISU was a solid 0 out of 10. This year feels like a 1 out of 10.

That must have been Jank's big "plan" that he announced last year......improve next year's schedule by 10%.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

The field for the Maui Invitational is set (still possibly subject to change but not likely)...November 22-24, 2010

Wichita State will have an excellent opportunity to get a couple great games...in fact they're bound to get at least two big time opponents...

They are in this tournament with UConn, Kentucky, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Washington, Virginia, and the host Chaminade University of Honolulu.
Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

(last year, Gonzaga won the Maui Invitational beating Colorado, Wisconsin, & Cincy, but Maryland, Vandy, & Arizona were also there)

At least they won't be playing Iowa if they lose in the 1st round - hopefully not Chaminade either! Good chance for the Shox to show that they are a Top 25 team. (I have doubts about #25 - maybe #40 until they prove themselves)

Utah's trustees are meeting at 12:30PM tomorrow to discuss and potentially decide on accepting the invitation to join the Pac-10.
It is expected that they will decide affirmatively and go, along with Big 12 Colorado, to the Pac-10 and become the 12th member.
The move will drop the Mountain West Conference back to nine members, after Boise State joined the MWC last week.
