Butler backed out of the end of our last deal, we just beat Illinois, we beat Iowa last time we played them, we just finished a series with Iowa St where we won 2 of 3. K-State would probably do a buy game, but that's it. Would love to schedule all those guys, but it's not likely.
      Onward and Upward!

Mississippi State, Dayton and VCU are all looking for home-and-homes and willing to start on the road.

THESE are the games we should be looking for. But my guess is these programs want BCS programs for these games...

Miss St specifically says that BCS is preferred but would consider competitive options. Not sure we're quite that, but it would be worth a shot.

Dayton only says looking for RPI 150, which would include most of the Valley. But yeah, they are probably looking for BCS first.

Nevertheless, these are names willing to go on the road. Opportunities like this do not often present themselves.

Butler probably needs a cupcake game just to offset all the meat they added this season. Is the Butler series officially bought out now? We've played them something like 5 out of 6 years so I'd hope it'd continue.

Last time we went to Mississippi St, they hung a hundy on the board and ran us out of the gym.

I see no reason a series against VCU can't be arranged. DO IT. I think we present enough value to Dayton too. Do that too.

I highly doubt a "hundy" would be put up against us next year.
That was an awful way to go out that season. Our 3's weren't fallin' that game from what I remember. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch this next season. The VCU game was fun to watch - the only win I saw all season. (I was down in Florida, so ACC, SEC, Big-E are on constantly.)
VCU is big, long, and athletic inside - might be tough to stop them.

Drake's already got Iowa State AND Iowa. I was kind of hoping (in the Illinois game) to get something of an annual BU-Illini game going (1st year at home, next away, next back at home, etc.) to get the crowd into a game other than ISU. Butler would just be SWEET. Iowa and Iowa State have big names (although not necessarily in Basketball). K State would still be a great game. I like Mississippi State and Dayton. Also, Louisville is looking for an opponent to fill out the schedule (non-big) for their new arena.

That Mississippi State game was also played at 11 AM on a Saturday morning. Figuring in the time change for us, it was the equivalent of a 10 AM game.

Not making excuses for the loss, as we likely lose to them down there no matter when the game was played. But our competitiveness was likely impacted by that some.

Isnt Mississippi in the Central time zone?

Current local time and date in Mississippi, United States from a trusted independent resource

They were a lot better than us that year regardless of when that game was being played.

Agreed they were likely better than us. However, we should have been an NCAA team as well that year, and we should never have had to go on the road for the 2nd round, but I think it could have been a more competitive game if played at a different time.

I stand corrected on the time. I was thinking both Alabama and Mississippi were Eastern time and both are Central.

we were manhandled down at Miss.St., they were so much more physical then us that year , Dayton would be good as they are closer and have a very good team.

...and just 30 minutes from house! Last year's NIT champs and NCAA runner-ups would be awesome to have on any schedule.

those are virtually all guarantee games wanted...
they don't want an opponent that has a chance of beating them so if Bradley called, they'd probably pass anyway..
I can't believe there's anyone who thinks scheduling is as easy and picking a movie out off the Rave time schedule then just buying a ticket..
it goes way, way deeper...and those guys like Butler want an easy home opponent and we really don't want to do guarantee games that much anyway
