Cody Roberts Named Head Strength & Conditioning Coach PEORIA, Ill. - Cody Roberts has been named head strength and conditioning coach at Bradley University, according to an announcement Thursday by Bradley Director of Athletics Dr. Michael Cross. Roberts joins the Bradley Athletics staff from the University of Kansas.

A Kansas alum with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, Roberts is no stranger to Central Illinois. He spent a year as an intern and graduate assistant on the strength and conditioning staff at Illinois State, before returning to Kansas to finish up work on a master's degree in exercise science earlier this month. "Cody Roberts brings many special qualities to this position," Cross said. "He is passionate about his field, highly educated, a very strong communicator and conducts himself in a very professional manner. He is an educator who has a championship mentality and I have every confidence that he will be an excellent partner with all of our coaches as we seek to enhance Bradley's competitiveness and performance."

During his time in Lawrence, Kan., Roberts worked with the Jayhawk volleyball, tennis, baseball, cross country, track & field and swimming & diving teams. He also assisted with the development of the men's and women's basketball, soccer and softball teams. Roberts oversaw the strength and conditioning regiment for an All-American diver for the Jayhawks in addition to a swim team which set 11 school records in a two-year period.
"I am honored and excited about the opportunity to join Bradley University and to be a part of Dr. Cross' mission," Roberts said. "It's my goal to provide Bradley student-athletes with a great educational and championship experience. There is a strong commitment to developing the Bradley Braves into successful men and women; and I am thrilled to be a part of that process."
A native of Bloomington, Ill., Roberts graduated from Normal Community High School. He was a four-year member of the Track & Field team at Kansas, where he placed 20th at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championship in the discus and advanced to the NCAA Championship in the event as both a junior and senior. Roberts competed in the NCAA Outdoor Regional in each of his final three seasons and was a four-time All-Big 12 performer, earning the honor three times in the discus and once in the hammer throw

It appears to me that Dr. Cross is trying to put his mark on the Athletic Dept. That's the way of the world. Best of luck to Ronnie Wright!

Sounds like Cody Roberts is qualified, but it remains to be proven whether he is an asset of the same caliber as RW.

He has 2 strikes against him already....

        1. He has ties to ISU

        2. He is coming from Kansas which is apparently rife with corruption.

Hmm. Interesting. Not sure if Ronnie Wright was good or bad. Some guys got a lot stronger and in great shape, other guys not so much. I wish him luck, and also welcome to Mr. Roberts.

              1. Agree with number 1

              2. THIS IS GOOD. Now we can learn how to deal dirty. Wouldn't be surprised if Quincy Miller suddenly signs in the Fall

Wow I had no idea that Ronnie wasn't returning. I lived next to him last year and he was definitely a stand up guy who was always willing to talk whenever I saw him. Sorry to hear it Ronnie and good luck wherever you end up.

Wow....didn't expect this at all.....Ronnie seemed to put his heart and soul into the program....I wish him luck.

Cody Roberts seems to have limited background with regards to basketball...

Didn't expect this either. What is going on. At this rate we will have all new coaches soon. Maybe BU is doing what is going to happen in DC. If your an incumbent don't let the door hit you in the backside. I've only heard good things about RW but guess i'm not in the loop.Good luck RW. Not sure I'm excited about an ISU grad. replacing RW but good luck Cody.Get some weight on AT we need him.

From the Journal Star the other day regarding the All Sports Trophy
"Bradley has never been among the top five ??” and has not finished better than eighth ??” since 1993-94."

I can't see any new AD coming in and not shaking things up in the first year.
