New head strength and conditioning coach-
Cody Roberts Named Head Strength & Conditioning Coach PEORIA, Ill. - Cody Roberts has been named head strength and conditioning coach at Bradley University, according to an announcement Thursday by Bradley Director of Athletics Dr. Michael Cross. Roberts joins the Bradley Athletics staff from the University of Kansas.
A Kansas alum with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, Roberts is no stranger to Central Illinois. He spent a year as an intern and graduate assistant on the strength and conditioning staff at Illinois State, before returning to Kansas to finish up work on a master's degree in exercise science earlier this month. "Cody Roberts brings many special qualities to this position," Cross said. "He is passionate about his field, highly educated, a very strong communicator and conducts himself in a very professional manner. He is an educator who has a championship mentality and I have every confidence that he will be an excellent partner with all of our coaches as we seek to enhance Bradley's competitiveness and performance."
During his time in Lawrence, Kan., Roberts worked with the Jayhawk volleyball, tennis, baseball, cross country, track & field and swimming & diving teams. He also assisted with the development of the men's and women's basketball, soccer and softball teams. Roberts oversaw the strength and conditioning regiment for an All-American diver for the Jayhawks in addition to a swim team which set 11 school records in a two-year period.
"I am honored and excited about the opportunity to join Bradley University and to be a part of Dr. Cross' mission," Roberts said. "It's my goal to provide Bradley student-athletes with a great educational and championship experience. There is a strong commitment to developing the Bradley Braves into successful men and women; and I am thrilled to be a part of that process."
A native of Bloomington, Ill., Roberts graduated from Normal Community High School. He was a four-year member of the Track & Field team at Kansas, where he placed 20th at the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championship in the discus and advanced to the NCAA Championship in the event as both a junior and senior. Roberts competed in the NCAA Outdoor Regional in each of his final three seasons and was a four-time All-Big 12 performer, earning the honor three times in the discus and once in the hammer throw
