Golden State's new coach Don Nelson admittedly does not like to play with a true center, and that is not good for a post player like Patrick O'Bryant. But now Nelson is openly talking about assigning POB to the NBADL which teams are allowed to do with rookie players under contract. I am sure POB would not like that. But maybe it could help him in the long run. See near the bottom of each article--

By the way, the player and his agent have to agree to go play in the NBADL, and POB and his agent aren't likely to agree to do this. If he is going to recover properly from his injury, and if he is to get stronger and better for the NBA, O'Bryant needs the far superior training facilities of an NBA team compared to the nickle and dime training facilities he would see with the Bakersfield Jam. Don Nelson is a joke! Look for POB to become a free agent as soon as he is able in a couple years.

Thursday will also mark the preseason debut of rookie Patrick O'Bryant, who was selected by the Warriors in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft (# 9 overall). O'Bryant, after missing the first several practice sessions as he recovered from a broken right foot, has impressed Coach Nelson since he has returned to the hardwood. Nellie has mentioned on more then one occasion how much he likes O'Bryant's potential, how smart he is and how he is impressed with his ability and size. However, he has also cautioned that the kid is very young and will need time to grow and learn the game. But, he certainly likes what he has seen thus far and thinks that he could be a special player. During the latter stages of training camp, O'Bryant showed the ability to shoot the ball (out to 15-16 feet), rebound and change the shot of an offensive player driving the lane. And, most impressively, you add those tools with an extremely big body, measuring at 7'0" and 250 pounds, and the future could be very intriguing.
