One of the statements implied that Bradley had to pay the Civic Center to hold dates open in March and April, though they didn't know whether they would use them or not. This arena at least gives Bradley another option, and maybe some leverage in negotiating with the Civic Center .

I think the main point is saying they wont hesitate to put games there because last season the civic center made us work around the rivermen's schedule forcing afternoon games and things of that nature that the athletic department doesnt want. I dont think it will happen, but i think they need to apply some pressure to the civic center to give us some priority and i think the contract with the civic center is coming to an end soon.

I really don't know how much bargaining power the new arena gives us given that the capacity is only 4,200. If the new arena had a capacity of 7-8k then I could understand BU negotiating from a more powerful position.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

Originally posted by BradleyBrave View PostI wouldn't doubt that. I know the project manager for the new construction, and know that in the space for the arena, it's as big as it can possibly be. But again, these plans were put in motion by the previous regime.
However, I think it also begs the question on how much money BU makes from a home game at Carver with 8,000 in attendance versus a home game on campus with 4,200 in attendance. Are we getting killed that much on the rent at Carver that this is a break-even proposition?
It is also possible that Bradley may be willing to play a game at an unusual time (such as during ESPN's 24-hour marathon of live games) that would impact attendance significantly.

I don't think we have to get to worried about post season tourney games being played on the hilltop. Not because we won't be playing in any but, if we were to get invited to one they surely wouldn't give us a home game with max. seating of 4200. So I'm not going to worry about getting a ticket to a home game I don't think we would get.
