Winning is all that you need to do get the students to invest. We could have the best on-campus arena in the nation; students aren't going to support a team that doesn't win, especially today's students. If you want those students to donate, give them a great experience while they're in school - win. Coach---My use of the word "greed" may have been a little overdone but I still think this really needs more careful thought. Some other schools may be doing this but I would be interested in which ones---any in the MVC?
Also, one of my major concerns is that this may work OK for affluent fans with big bucks but suggestions such as T's cause me to wonder if we have forgotton about the BU fan base of middle class, working people, retired people and young people who simply cannt afford these prices. We need this fan base and don't want to alienate them.
And finally, season ticket holders who pay maintenance should be given a priority if this program is really implemented.
One final thought which I admit is quite negative----If BU basketball deteriorates or if the long-term plan by the administration is to downgrade the program, could a move back on campus be a part of this?Comment

I think the men's game at the new facility is an outrage if the current season ticket holders are not guaranteed the game.
Why do we pay these hefty "maintenance" fees and the cost of the tickets when we won't even get to see all of the home games? This stinks of a raw deal here.
You have to pay an insane PSO for volleyball and women's basketball prorgrams that the University has rarely cared about, just to have a chance at the men's tickets. That is horrible.

I can't say I am totally against it, but I think my biggest issue is that if it was ever a thought to have even one regular season game on campus, why didn't they make the arena a little bigger? Say, 6,000-7,000 at minimum? I know these plans have been in the works for a long time, and I know it was another regime that put them in motion. Regardless, if it was ever given an ounce of thought, the size of the arena should have been taken into consideration. As I said in another post, I know for a fact that the arena is as big as it can possibly be for that amount of land. But, had they thought that perhaps they wanted to have a home game or two on campus, they could have reduced the size of the parking deck and expanded the size of the arena to make this scenario a bit more realistic. Having home games in an arena nearly 1/3 the capacity of Carver is going to be a real, real tough sell.Onward and Upward!

I like it.
I understand why people are upset. But let's face a hard fact here: For a school like Bradley to continue to compete at the highest levels it must make money.
I for one have no problem paying for volleyball and women's hoops because I understand what this facility signifies for them. And they are placing a premium (but not unreasonable) price on them so that they aren't money losers for the University and a sign that they are committed to growing these programs.
Finally, I would expect there will be other events at the arena that campus has not seen in some time, that also will accompany your right to that seat for those events (concerts rock or otherwise ie Boston Pops or Trans-Siberian Orchestra, other tournaments, maybe an NBA or WNBA exhibition, Globetrotters).
Also, as Bradley Brave pointed out earlier in this thread, this is also in part about leverage and flexibility as much as anything else.Comment

It's a 4500 seat arena. That's not that far off from some attendances at the CBI/CIT event early rounds at Carver.
The one thing I am curious about is if there is SRO capacity that might add room for an additional 500-1000.
Also, for the exhibitions that have been at the Fieldhouse I don't think the attendance has been much if above 4500. Without looking it up, I doubt the Carver crowds for exhibitions have been much greater either-but I couldn't get to last years so my memory may be hazy.
The point is that the 2500-3500 that went to the exhibitions at the Fieldhouse are still likely going to go to one at the new arena and won't have a problem paying.Comment

Bradley's release yesterday states the capacity of the arena at 4,200-It's a 4500 seat arena.
Last year's single exhibition game at the Carver Arena listed attendance at 7,699, though actual attendance was less, probably around 5,000. It was part of the season-ticket package.-Also, for the exhibitions that have been at the Fieldhouse I don't think the attendance has been much if above 4500. Without looking it up, I doubt the Carver crowds for exhibitions have been much greater either-but I couldn't get to last years so my memory may be hazy.

How many season ticket holders were there last season?
I generally don't believe announced is actual attendance, which if that is about the number of season ticket holders that is likely what the announced attendance would be.
I also think the fact that there was one exhibition game as opposed to two may impact attendance as well.Comment
