  • Northern Iowa gets commit from 2011 big man

Northern Iowa reportedly has gotten a commitment from a pretty good 2011 big man Seth Tuttle, a 6'8" power forward from Sheffield, Iowa.
Iowa, Iowa State, and Creighton have been recruiting him, too.

This kid is just a junior, class of 2011. There are many uncommitted big kids in the junior class, and many more that will emerge as D1 recruits.
There is no guarantee when you sign a kid this early that he is going to even develop into a legitimate D1 big man, but some coaches like to take a chance early. Bradley is involved with a number of 2011 kids, including some pretty talented big kids.

Is getting verbals in the summer really all that early? Isn't that about the norm for kids that you want to sign an LOI in the fall signing period?

I could see your point if the kid was in the class of 2012 or later. However, this kid will be a senior in the fall and able to sign an LOI in the fall period. Doesn't sound like much of a risk to me and certainly no more than other kid that signs an LOI in the early signing period...

I don't disagree with what you have said here DC But hell, we have been around a while to know there is NO Sure Things on anything in life, but one and thats is when you are born, that you are going to die someday But, we need to take our chance and get some early commitments If we need to enter the race early to keep up with the competition, than so be it Look friend, I just want to win one more MVC title and taste at lease one more Sweet 16 run or better, before my one sure thing comes knocking
