Growing up in Verona, Missouri in one of the top basketball families in the history of the state J.J. Tauai added to the lore of the family completing his senior season with a 32-0 record and the Class 1A basketball title.
Tauai showed that there are times when you save the best for last. The youngest of nine children in his family Tauai earns MOsports.com Class 1 all-decade selection for his outstanding efforts throughout his career.
Tauai, completed his career averaging 28.5 points and 7 rebounds earning back to back all-state basketball honors. Tauai was the fifth of seven Tauai brothers to top 1,000 career points finishing his career as the family leader with 2,036 points. Named the Ozark 8 Most Valuable Player as a junior and a senior, Tauai was a dominant force in the league.
In College:
Tauai attended Bradley University, competing in the Missouri Valley Conference. A reserve for the first three years of his career averaging 16 minutes per contest Tauai completed his career with a solid senior season. In his final year, Tauai averaged 29 minutes per game, averaging 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game for the Braves.
Professionally:
Since the end of his career at Bradley, Tauai has played professionally overseas.
