For my job, I have to pay tax on my income in only California when I go there. The reason is because technically the customer is paying me to be on-site so I have to pay income taxes.
Not sure, but maybe it happens in professional sports because of revenue sharing. So really it could be seen as every team pays every player for each game, so depending on which state the game is played the income taxes are paid to that state.
On LBJ, I think most people outside of Cleveland hate the way he went about his decision. I think people in Cleveland hate that he left, feel betrayed, and then he slapped them in the face on his way out.

Also lots of pro athletes live in Texas and Florida to avoid the State Income Tax. If they have to pay for play in each state they visit why would it then matter where they live?

I have never understood the hatred for the Yankees, when they're simply dealing within the rules (or lack of) given by the sport.???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I'm saying that I've heard many people saying it was in fact the decision they are upset about because he took the "easy way out".
Why would someone be upset at LeBron for weighing his options and making a decision? Because it was done on national television? Then blame ESPN and burn their items! I have much more respect today for LeBron for not taking the money in Cleveland or NY than I do for the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers!???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. To me it was no different than showing up at the altar with 4-5 girlfriends (one of which you'd been with your whole life who stood by your side unconditionally) for a nationally televised wedding (which YOU called, not ESPN) and then you decided to dump that long time loyal girlfriend for the REALLY hot girl you just met within the last month.
How do you think that long time girlfriend (Cleveland) and her family (the fans) are going to feel about YOU? I guarantee they feel a WHOLE lot worse after being embarrassed and humiliated in front of the entire nation. JMO

Can you blame LBJ though! B4L so you are telling me you would rather live in Cleveland then South Beach. My GF even said that at his age and the money he will make, that South Beach is a no brainer. The way he went about it though can be criticized but going to Miami itself, no way. The guy needs to live his life as a professional athlete not as an end all be all for a bunch of sports fan."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

ESPN did not have to agree to this! But ok.....go burn the LeBron items and have the owner call him a "coward". THOSE are quality people!???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Personally, I hate the NBA and don't really care one way or the other. It just sickens me that these ego-maniac, rich, pampered athletes care only about themselves. I have absolutely NO problem with LBJ going to Miami; I would have gone there if I was him, too.
