but there could yet be a twist to this...as a soon-to-be ruling may affect how they play next November......
we have heard for eons that the NCAA might rule soon on all the cheating at USC...
but now - sources are saying the NCAA's ruling could come as soon as this week...
although this week is about over...
After a long wait, the NCAA's decision on penalties for Southern California are expected to be delivered soon.
It is entirely possible that USC could actually get hit and have no post-season chances next year, meaning...
-- that one or more of their incoming recruits (they have 4 signed for 2010) might want out if they find they're coming to a program getting hit with sanctions
-- they would perhaps be more willing to play and develop younger players and not just be going for wins in a season where their record won't matter...
rumor has though that the only penalties will be retroactive and take away wins that Reggie Bush competed in...and maybe return $$ fromi a bowl or two..
but watch for the NCAA to go relatively light, maybe even never mention OJ Mayo, and say that poor, poor USC has suffered enough.

Some other things I picked up reading the USC message boards..
--first 99% of message board talk about USC is football related..they don't seem to have many fans who follow or talk basketball much
--some fans are a little bothered that coach Kevin O'Neill has taken in a couple transfers (who have to sit out) and then is still sitting on a couple scholarships...so he'll only have 9 maybe 10 rostered, eligible players..and might be short on scorers....
--then USC is going hard after the Wear brothers who just left UNC...meaning they's have potentially 4 rides tied up in 2010-2011 on guys who won't be eligible this coming season (also have Fontan & Fuller).
--The TOTAL discussion I could find where they even bother to notice who they are playing next November is this single comment.....only one post out of FOUR message boards about their game in this tourney!
--the guy posting this seems to know that the voice of the LA Clippers, Ralph Lawler, is a Peoria native, Peoria Central grad, and also a grad of Bradley!
