    HOF tourney teams

Has there been any further "official" word as to who the eighth team will be? I just checked http://www.halloffametipoff.com/ and there is nothing new, just the same seven teams' logos.

    TIA.
My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

This is from Sept 8th and it looks like some wiggle room if teams back out. The issue is that a quality eight team never happened and TCU came to the table with conditions.

UMass will open the season against Rider at the Mullins Center on Nov. 12 in a game that's part of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament. The Minutemen play four games as part of the event. UMass is expected to face Southern Cal at the MassMutual Center in Springfield on Nov. 20, but it's possible the matchups at the MassMutual Center could still be changed.

Organizers have not determined if the games in Springfield will be tournament style. If they aren't, UMass will likely face Texas Christian on Nov. 22. If they are, they'll face the winner of TCU and Bradley.

The Minutemen will host Division II American International on Nov. 24.

So Bradley is playing TCU now instead of USC?

Get out now. What a joke, and what an embarrassment for the Hall of Fame.

If we get out now though, we're left with just 8 non-conf. games.
Gotta' have at least 10 - gives us a better chance to reach 20 wins this season before the Valley tourney. It also prepares us better for the Valley.
If we pull out now, we'll be in the bottom half of the conference in scheduling.
Hopefully, we'll stick with those 7 teams and just make the most of the tourney.

Perhaps New Mexico State has reconsider after losing some of it's players. I've seen nothing about their schedule or any team playing there. Then perhaps it could be 6 teams playing round robin. Just speculating in the absense of any concrete decisions.

This sums up everything about this tournament. If Dr. Naismith knew that his namesake HOF is looking like a bunch of bumbling *****s, he'd turn in his grave.

                    New Tournament Details

Guys, we are no longer playing the New Mexico State/UMass winner/loser, but now have a predetermined game Nov. 21 versus TCU in a similar format to the 2003 Las Vegas Tournament when we knew going in we were playing Miami (Fla.) in the last game. For more news on the schedule, check out the news release on BradleyBraves.com:

PEORIA, Ill. ? The addition of an eighth team to the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament, the return to campus for a trio of preseason events and a 16-game regular-season schedule at Carver Arena highlight the final pieces to the 2010-11 Bradley University men's basketball schedule announced today.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of red this season,

New Mexico St and UMass are both going to be somewhat better than TCU (RPI hit) and now there's the D-II everyone dreaded (better than a SWAC school I guess). This turned into a rather marginal tournament rather quickly. This is the type of thing where people are going to hammer our schedule in March and they won't realize how these things work.

Still a couple concerns about the tournament.

It is my understanding that the entire event has to be played inside a 14 day window. With TAMK on 11/12 and the final game elsewhere on 11/29 that is a potential 3-day extension. But maybe that just applies to individual teams.

Also, there are supposedly restrictions on non-DI participation if they are not actually part of the event.

However, when the HOF people actually make their official announcement (still pending) these things will be clearer.

I just hope that BU's participation in this event this year doesn't come back to haunt them-either for playing too many games or being disqualified from participating in a tournament next year.

Really disappointed in the quality/times of this tourney at the BHOF. I live within four hours, and was excited about seeing two games over the weekend. Now the teams are marginal, and they are playing both games at 5:00 pm. That's fine for Saturday, but tough on Sunday when you need to be at work on Monday. Was hoping for two early afternoon games. Oh well....
