scout.com just came out with their final ranking for tha Class of 2010...
now keep in mind, none of these kids has played a single game since March...so there can only be one reason for most of the ranking changes....and that is hype...
the kids who get hyped by signing with Calipari bolt upwards, and almost anyone verballing to a mid-major plummets...
I will give several examples......
Enes Kanter hasn't played a single high school game in the US...he has played some all star games, but we all know there's no defense played in those games...
He was getting some hype and was in some people's top 50 when he verballed to Washington...but now he re-verbals to John Calipari at Kentucky, and the kid zooms to #3 nationally and 5-STARS.
I can't argue with many of the Top 20-30, but they are all TOP BCS recruits plus one super-hyped mm recruit...
Then there's Dominique Ferguson, who was a TOP 10 kid when he was being recruited just a few months ago...then he verbals to FIU (Isiah Thomas) and the kid plummets down to #58!!
#58 isn't all that bad, but seriously, the ONLY thing that happened between being in the TOP 10 and dropping to #58 was that he verballed to a mid-major.
All the other widely hyped BCS guys moved up, and all the mid-major verballed guys have dropped
(Trey Ziegler was Top 30, now he's dropped to #48,
Juwan Staten drops from Top 50 to #70,
and the Xavier kids, who were all at 50 and higher, drop to the bottom.
