Yep I saw that. That is terrible, what was the poor guy suppose to do win a championship with this team? I hope he gets a great opportunity some place else. I really liked Vinny, and thought he was a classy guy and was becoming a better coach all the time. Too bad.
Thanks to Vinny for what he did in Chicago, some of us Bulls fans appreciate it! I can't wait for more on Paxson and this fight to come out.

Get serious. The guy didn't win, period. That team had the talent to be much better than an 8th seed and sacrificial lamb to the Cavs...
They went the cheap route instead of the proven route and this is what they got...
Now if they can just get Phil back and land Lebron..

-They have no inside post presence on offense, they have no 3 point shooters. They had absolutely no depth at all, because they traded and got rid of guys for next year's cap space.
-He developed Gibson, Noah, and Rose very well in his 2 years there.
-He made the backcourt of Hinrich and Rose work. I mean Kirk has had to play out of position for 2 years.
-Defense and rebounding improved a ton this past season.
-They had injuries to no end this year otherwise they probably would have won almost 50 games.
-They lost their best shooter in Ben Gordon this offseason.
-He handled all the pressure and distractions will class and kept his team focused. He kept working as hard as he could the whole time and was constantly improving as a coach. This is despite the organization treating him like dirt for 2 years, and never backing him. Throw the Paxson incident on top of this.
-The players liked him, even Lebron talked about how prepared they were.
You combine that all to go 41-41 and still make the playoffs? I consider that a good job.
Nobody is saying he is the greatest coach ever, but he was a first time head coach who was improving and getting better. It is a terrible PR move, Dwade even stated the fight started by Paxson is a bad thing for free agents looking there.
And who is bettter? Doug Collins? Hasn't been out of the first round in forever. Who? Please don't say you want that cheater Calipari. None of the names on the Bulls list jump out at me as, yes this guy is much better than Vinny. Lawrence Frank? Byron Scott? The Bulls handled themselves with no class through this whole thing, and that is what I hate most.

Knowing the way JR operates, just from observing over the years - watching the White Sox and Bulls. He's been a great owner IMO. He will hire a former Bull to be coach... just like he hired Ozzie and several assistant coaches for the Sox.. and he hired Paxson as GM for the Bulls. Like him or not, he's loyal to his former players and that's a good trait. He likes what he is familiar with, so look for someone that played for the Bulls or was a prior assistant coach that he knows. It's good money, so I'm sure a former player would jump in.

I do agree that the initial replacement reports are less than thrilling. Unless they say "Mr. James/Wade/Bosh, pick your next head coach", i will not be happy with any of the retreads.
I do not agree that he was handed a talentless/injured roster in a very top heavy eastern conference. I am not sure who they traded away besides Salmons to clear cap space? The Ty Thomas experiment wasn't working for anyone..another bad attitude from LSU...
I have a hard time believing that the Paxson-Del Negro fight was all Paxson's doing. Later reports said that Del negro was the aggressor and had done similar things before. Not ready to throw Johnny Pax under the bus for a 2 and done head coach. I will throw him under the bus for the bogus contract of Deng, the drafting of Thomas, and such.
Like it or not, not signing Ben Gordon is a good thing. He is not worth half of what he is getting in Detroit.
Injuries happen. Noah was the longest, and word is that he screwed that one up.
My biggest complaint is that they should have canned him back in December when the news broke.

VDN was not a good head coach. He's not as good as the retreads and he wasn't a great hire. I don't think he's a bad guy or anything but there are many better choices. The Bulls should have fired him in December but they did the right thing in letting him go.

My fear is that he gets hired by some other team and takes them to the championship!

And bringing Calipari in here would be a disaster! Maybe he's a good coach and gets them to the "Promised Land", but with the track record of college coaches coaching pro teams, I'm not counting on it. Besides, I don't want someone with his shady history here coaching this team!
