  • Creighton and Wichita get commits Thursday

Creighton got a verbal commit from little brother Kaleb Korver.
Kaleb is the youngest Korver, a senior at Pella, IA.
6-4 shooting guard, rated zero stars by Rivals, and unrated by scout, had been recruited by Northern Iowa and a couple other MVC schools.

In other Creighton news, Josh Dotzler is reported to be on target to get cleared to begin play by November, maybe December at the latest.

Creighton also still has an opening for one more game on their schedule and is having a terrible time getting an opponent. They may settle for a D-II or D-III.

New Bluejay, highly touted juco Ty Morrison, is apparently quite ill with Graves Disease and had lost 40 pounds since last spring.
He is under treatment and recovering, and is hoping to be ready to play by season's start.

Wichita State got a verbal from Denzell Bowles.
He is a 6-9 forward from Virginia Beach, VA.
Rated 2-Star by scout, and rated zero stars by Rivals.
He chose WSU over offers from Providence, Rhode Island, George Mason, St. Bonaventure, Virginia Commonwealth and St. Josephs.
Shockers also have Graham Hatch, a one star SG from AZ, who committed to WSU in 2005 and then went on a Mormon Mission.
He is set to come back for 2007, and is said to still be offered the scholarship.

There's is actually one more Korver brother (Kirk) who will be a sophomore at Pella this year. I've seen him in the stands at Drake games, and he is a big boy, not sure if he can play or not.

Kaleb Korver's final 4 schools were Creighton, Drake, UNI and Iowa State. Drake and UNI are both out of scholarships and Iowa State hadn't offered him yet.

      Thanks DUB,
from everything I can find on Kaleb Korver, he combines two assets that are not always easy to find in one recruit, very smart, and a very good outside shooter.

      How is Klayton coming along?
All ready to go in a week?

From what I've heard, he's experiencing no pain in his knee, which is a very good sign. I don't know where he is as far as conditioning, but all signs are that he'll be 100% or close to it when the season starts.

As far as Kaleb, I've seen him play in summer league out here. He's a very good shooter, and the Korvers are known for being very hard workers. He's not as tall as either of his older brothers, and he's very skinny right now. But, as well as he shoots the ball, Dana Altman will find a way to get a lot out of him.

But isn't he basically the same player as Casey Harriman?
Don't they need a PG much more than another carbon copy SG?

Good question and something I have a little concern ovre re: same player. However, CU already has an 08 commit from a Top 100 {Hoopmasters, HoopScoop} point guard, Antoine Young so I have less worries about the point guard issue.

CU is in on a monster PG from San Diego, JayDee Luster, short but blazing speed I have not seen in the MVC {saw him play a game last year}. I'm sure CU will continue to recruit him over the winter {expected to sign in the spring} and if something opens up after the year {a wash out or chronically injured player}, CU may still get their PG for 07.

Looks like jayDee Luster is also considering New mexico and the San Diego schools

                      Wow, this is impressive,
Luster is expected to have 2,000 points, 1,000 assists, and 500 steals by the end of his 4 year high school career.
That works out to 4-year averages of 17pts, 8 assists, and 4 steals per game from freshman level on up!

I am surprised he isn't getting more looks from big schools.

Noted elsewhere is that Luster verballed to New Mexico State and surprised a lot of people at Creighton who thought he was in the bag.

this was their prediction but... unfortuntely he was injured early in his high school senior year and his season ended - and even some recruiting interest dropped off.
He still had some impressive HS stats.
