If you watch the new BU year in review movie, you will see a picture of the new arena. The floor is in place and seats are being installed.

Enjoy the slideshow. The pic is near the end: http://www.bradley.edu/yearinreview/0910/

Here's a question to ponder...... Could BU basketball be more profitable and create more demand that results in higher ticket costs by moving out of the PCC and into this new facility? Do any "insiders" know if this possibility has ever been discussed?

Granted, this new facility would only hold about half of the current attendance average but BU would keep ALL of the facility and ticket profits, create additional profit by charging for parking, and keep the profit from selling their own concessions. Not to mention a campus-owned facility would allow BU to call the scheduling shots instead of the PCC. The PCC could possibly be used for "big" games like the Michigan States, Utahs, etc. But really, how many "big game" teams does BU ever attract anyway.

Apparently, enough "big game teams" to average twice as many ticket sales as the on-campus arena could handle. I don't think it's a good move to make that many people mad and I don't believe there should ever be anything other than scrimmages/exhibitions played there.

Playing Division 1 basketball in an arena that seats 4500, with all the support Bradley has from the community and surrounding area doesn't make sense. How many times have you seen only 4500 fans at the the Civic Center, no matter who the Braves were playing? Give it up, hopefully the Braves will never play a regular season game at such a small venue. With the weak non conference schedules Bradley had in the 70's they still drew better than that.

If Bradley actually wants is wanting to move most of the mens game to on campus I would have to say they are planning to kill the program. On campus games would completely alienate half the fanbase, and basically just say we are giving up being a D-1 program. I understand if they want one game there, but just keep it to the red/white and the exhibition games.

Taking this argument a little further... If we do this, can you imagine what a coach from a large school would tell a kid who is considering Bradley if we play all or most of our games in the 4,500 seat facility? I would love to see Bradley play games on or near the campus. But not with the current facilities.

After all the money the Feds have pumped into the system the last two years this may become a reality sooner than you think OoB.

As for BU leaving the CC and breaking even,
I just think BU has more of a chance in turning a buck by cutting a deal with you to market your Avatars

No offense to Drake fans, but I doubt their cozy on campus "practice" gym has allowed them to make more money than when they were playing in 10,000+ Vets Auditorium in downtown Des Moines Ia...As for more student attendance, the times I have seen Drake play on campus, there weren't anymore DU students watching their games than BU students at Carver Arena.

Time will tell if a cozy on campus setting hurts recruiting. Looking at Drake, they have won the MVC and gone to the NCAA's since they have moved to their cozy on campus gym. If their current roster outperforms BU, we could say the size of gym doesn't have too much affect on getting players who can win.

Worst case scenario for BU, they shift to on campus, lose half of their seasson ticket holders, jack up prices to make more money, then put a lousy product on the floor and loose their remaining season ticket holder fan base.
