I believe they would have at least 2 schollys open. They lost Buckley, Colvin, Hamilton, Brackins, and Gilstrap (who was a senior but I believe they were holding a scholly for him in case he was awarded another year). I think they only had 2 of those filled by recruits. Maybe FarmerClone will stop by and help us out on this one...

I wonder if these guys signed. If they did they should be able to go wherever they want if indeed McDermott is leaving. That is just not right.

In almost every case, a school will let a kid out of their LOI when the coach that recruited them leaves. There are rare exceptions, usually only when some kind of tampering is suspected.

There are a lot of people speculating that their top recruit Melvin Ejim will follow McDermott. When he signed, he said a lot of things about McDermott rather than about the school itself, leading a lot of pepole to believe that he will follow McD. That would be a HUGE blow to Iowa State.

Godfrey has not yet signed. Planned to sign Wednesday. Would guess he will play a waiting game now or just visit Creighton instead.

6'9" 215 pound forward Eric McKnight did sign and his coach said Eric is still come to ISU as he loved Ames and the school.

Ejim said he will wait and see but as with many of the players, TJ Otzelberger, not McDermott is the key. Wherever TJ goes, the players are likely to follow.

No way to gauge how many scholarships ISU has left. Rumors of health concerns for Oliver, academic concerns for Dendy and the uncertainty of all the new recruits with the coaching change. Heck, maybe ISU will end up with Wilkins after all if we get a new staff that includes Terry Carroll or something! (Kidding)

The way things look right now, I'm not sure that the combined teams of Iowa and Iowa State could field a competitive team.

Even if we land Basabe, Brust, and a couple of the other guys they are talking about, I think we're still looking at 9th place (thank God for Penn St and Indiana).
