SIU lands another juco player

Not 100% yet, but it appears SIU has landed yet another juco player:
Mamadou Seck a 6'6" power forward from Southeastern Illinois.

According to Jucojunction/Rivals, his only other offer was from Cal-Poly.
I have heard Chris Lowery has been interested in Seck for a long time. He is an undersized power forward/center who averaged 15.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg at Southeastern Illinois College.

Interesting that he was the #11 ranked junior college sophomore on JucoJunction.com's preseason list-

I checked their roster...let's say nobody else leaves now, and all the players expected to be back are back...

--then in Spring of 2010 they lose Bocot (maybe, or he might qualify to get the extra year), Crowder, Fay, Freeman, and Mitchell

--and in Spring of 2011 they lose Booker, Dillard (if not sooner), and all their new jucos (Cleveland, Long, Watson, Seck)
plau they could also lose Teague and Myers by then as well.....

so by the end of 2012, they'll lose at least 11 of their scholarship players and will need to replace them....and as we can see...the only nibbles they are getting on their available scholarships are from kind-of obscure juco kids...plus they took in the kid with the felony charges..

So CLo had better start hitting the roads and recruiting for 2011 & 2012 because he'll need to land a dozen new guys.....
Their scholarship grid is a virtual blank after next season..save for their single verbal for the Class of 2011 and they hope Diamond Taylor will stick around..

My Saluki friend wanted me to post his response...

2010....bocot will be a prop 48 redshirt. that means he can apply to come back one more year if his grades are ok. he will and they are. crowder is leaving now. his mom is has been diagnosed as terminal.

2011... booker and dillard are gone. that announcement will come this week. they've asked for release papers, and the school has given them. as faras losing teague and myers by then, teague may leave now with the homesick blues. that's up in the air. myers is not leaving. he was redshirted this year. there has been zero noise about him.

2012 and beyond....we've signed a 2011 player already. i doubt many schools have signed more than one. as far as the scholarship grid after next year, first, i don't think chris lowery has the comfort level to worry about after next year. and second, this is the way wichita has done business every year. not the way i want to. but wichita is certainly among the top tier valley programs. if it's just dillard and booker, we're still gonna roll fay and bocot out there are scorers, teague as the only true #5 in the league, and diamond taylor as what could be the best incoming player in the league. throw in 8 jucos and hope for the best.

You do not build good programs on recruiting this many Juco"s, you fill in needed positions , we have had good luck getting good Jr.College players but they usually don"t contribute much their 1st year and then they are gone the next season.
