  • Wichita State freshman guard Kenny Manigault transferring

Wichita State freshman guard Kenny Manigault is leaving WSU and transferring.
WICHITA, KAN. ? Kenny Manigault, a 6-foot-4 freshman guard, has decided to leave the Wichita State University men's basketball program at the end of the school year, WSU head coach Gregg Marshall announced today.

His playing time was very limited this past season. He played in 16 of their 35 games and averaged 7.2 minutes per game. Fellow freshman Demetric Williams got most of the backup time at point guard.

My money says he'll end up at College of Charleston.

A couple other possibilities are Winthrop and Charleston Southern. Both schools recruited Manigault strongly before he committed to Wichita State.

wow - we heard such great things about Manigault, like that he was the best recruit in the Valley, that he was a BCS-caliber recruit, that he was a literal scoring machine, etc...
        wonder what happened??

To be fair, it was a Rivals or Scout site that pegged Manigault as the top MVC recruit. He has a lot of upside but unfortunately a guard that doesn't shoot well isn't the best fit in the Valley. A redshirt year will do wonders for Kenny.

I recall seeing video of Maniagult a couple years ago, and admit I was pretty impressed....I kinda thought he'd be a factor for the Shockers...

I guess he really wants to be guaranteed to start every game. He'll probably be 1st team all conference in that league.

There are some folks I know that would call it a step up but for other reasons then basketball.

The Citadel is a military college and students not only wear uniforms but must follow extremely rigorous military-procedure-like rules!

Citadel pretty much only takes a transfer if the student will be there at least 3 more years, because of the specifics of their program...

words, the typical member of the corps of cadets spends four years at the
school, and those four years have very specific benchmarks."

btw-- there is one area athlete who just graduated and is going to the Citadel on athletic scholarship, although will RS this year.......anyone wanna hazard a guess??

Exactly, its a well regimented school with a good environment and excellent academics. If he gets to play the sport he loves more, its win-win.

Joey Cruise, former Dunlap RB, will be a JR. at The Citadel next year. After playing football for one year, Joey decided to concentrate on his studies. Joey will join the Army when he leaves the Citadel.

Sarah Katchen, goalie for Galesburg girls' soccer, will be a RS freshman at Citadel next year. Her parents are both ex-Peorians.

                              Thanks for the info.
University of South Carolina-Aiken is where Jeremy Fears transferred to and played for 1 season before leaving for a pro career in Austria.
