This is still 100x better than the bracketbuster setup, I think. Hopefully this continues on for a long while, and the bracketbuster dies a quick death.

Utah is ok, would have rather had New Mexico.

        Yeah...this is too bad.
Had a decent chance at getting an NCAA-caliber opponent at home this year as a part of this challenge...instead we get Utah...a team coming off a mediocre season and losing their top three scorers...ugh.

Yeah, that won't give us that quality non-conference win we need, but it's better than filling that slot with teams like SEMO or UIC again.

These matchups aren't very intriguing overall. The WSU @ SDSU matchup looks the best on paper.

I like the UNLV-ISU matchup. I am glad that game is not the same night as the Bradley-Utah game. I might drive over to Normal watch that one.

It may turn out to be a great game, but UNLV brings basically everybody back from an at large team while ISU lost three starters.

San Diego State brings back five starters and Wichita State looks to be one of the favorites in the Valley.

It looks like a little flexibility could have brought togehter some better matchups. The four tournament teams from the two leagues last year are all on the road. You'd think UNI would play somebody other than TCU.

Odd fact from the WSU release: Teams from the two leagues have squared off 47 times since the inception of the Mountain West in 1999, with MWC teams holding a 24-23 edge in those contests, although the MVC had a 6-4 edge in games played this past season.

On a side note, who else can't wait to see it tied 4-4 with Evansville and Air Force playing for the whole thing? Riveting action!

I see that both UNM and UNLV are playing their MVC opponents on the 1st, while the Utah/BU matchup is on the 4th. There could be some sort of scheduling conflict (either at the CC or with one of the MWC teams) that prevented scheduling against BU.

                    Just a thought...

It's a good point. We're at the mercy of the PCC when it comes to scheduling, and the Utah matchup probably makes the most sense (although the BYU-BU matchup this year made little sense in that regard). From what I hear the exempt tournament we're going to be playing isn't going to have that stellar of a field, so we're going to need to make sure we don't muddle through the non-con like we did this year if we're going to have legitimate postseason aspirations.
                      Onward and Upward!

What kind of tournament are we looking at participating in?
Hope it's not like the Drake Invitational or I.S.U. Open (where any team is "Open" to walk in and play)

It will be like the tournaments we have played in the last 3 years. There will be a couple home games against lesser teams, then the primary 4 teams will all meet at the designated tournament city for a couple more games. The competetion will be better than the last few tournaments.

Perhaps the home games, but if we're going to the one I have been hearing since the season the teams won't be better than Oklahoma St and Illinois.

It must not be the one you have been hearing about.

If the teams are that good, then I can't wait to find out about which tourny we are in and who else is in it!

Gah so many things I am full of anticipation about this offseason! I wish I was an insider.
