Declaring for the NBA draft

Syracuse junior Wes Johnson is among the latest to declare for the draft. The Big East player of the year averaged a team-leading 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while starting all 35 games this season.
North Carolina forward Ed Davis is skipping his final two seasons of eligibility. The 6-foot-10 forward was the Tar Heels' second-leading scorer, top rebounder and leading shot blocker before missing the last 13 games with a broken left wrist.
West Virginia's Devin Ebanks is skipping his final two years of eligibility to enter the NBA draft. The 6-foot-9 forward was considered the Mountaineers' top defender and averaged 12 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds last season.

Hmm..sounds like he will enter without an agent which he would have until May 8th I believe I read to come back.

This would be a huge blow for Illini's chances at a good season next year. I would be concerned about Chemistry issues to begin with if he stayed or not with personalities like Richmond, Leonard, and McCamey. But who would their PG be?? DJ is more of a shooting guard, I don't think Richmond's personality is built for the point, I've heard people say Joseph Bertrand but I don't know about that. That coupled with there still being no established inside post presence.....I don't know if they will be as great as some think next year. It could go either way, they could be great or underachievers, but they certainly have some question marks right now.

I think he will end up staying, but the Illini ought to be interesting next year either way.

I think Illinois coach Weber has a couple juco point guards ready to commit if McCamey doesn't pull out (which I think he will). One of them is former Evansville guard Kaylon Williams. They may also be in on a high school PG who recently reopened his recruitment.

Could be more verification that McCamey has assured Weber he's coming back for another year.

McCamey certainly is getting some bad advice if he stays in the draft. Of course his chances of getting selected in the 1st round really won't be any better after next season. If he's bound for Europe the time value of money says get it now.

A lot of these guys are declaring now, trying to catch lightning in a bottle, and get drafted this year. Next year there could be a long drawn out labor battle that would prevent them from getting paid until it is settled, which could be a year long.

Thus the mass exodus of fringe underclass draft talent..

Alot of smart guys declare to see exactly where they stand with the NBA. Getting good feedback and what they need to work on.

The ones who do not listen or think they are legit, well they will get a dose of reality real quick especially if they hire an agent and go late 2 or not at all. Those guys are getting exactly what they deserve.

But I think declaring and getting constructive information is very good for guys. Dose of reality never hurts. Its what they do with the reality is what is most important.

I think a guy like Brown, if he plays well in his Junior season, would be crazy not to declare, not hire and agent, and find out exactly what the NBA thinks of him. Its the hiring of an agent and jumping all in that is crazy for a fringe guy.

Yes Taylor Brown. There is no harm in declaring for the draft, unless you hire an agent. If he has a improved Junior season, he should atleast test the waters.

One thing about BU is that there are two men who can pretty much tell you what you need to do to make it to the next level. Unless you are looking to get on the radar of GMs DV can tell you what you need to improve to be considered. TB needs to work on a few things and that is his jumper(which is pretty good), passing game and playing hard the whole game. The NBA has a bunch of 6'6" athletic SF who play hard the whole game. He has two more years to show the scouts that he has the attitude to progress on the next level.
