The one and done(s) will keep them in the top 10 but never will they win a championship unless the core stick around for at least 2 years. Calipari came close with Rose but they also had other players that played in his system longer then a year. If Paterson and Bledsoe stick around they'll have a chance.

Yeah, we have arrived at an era where "one and done"s will pretty much be the sole property of Calipari with few outliers. Pitino recruited the kid for 2 years, also coached his father, but at the end of the day, Freshman seldom get huge sums of playtime in Pitino's systems. Calipari on the other hand, designs his system on the concept of building a brand new team every year so kids can always count on that play time. Astounding really. It seems the other big programs, the UNCs, Dukes, UofLs, Uconns, etc. will have to go to 'plan B', good coaching and player development to continue to have success - bummer.

I'd say Coach K has done pretty well with that philosophy. He will not recruit a one and done.

Coach K will recruit one and dones. He might not of a couple of years ago but he is now. Im a pretty big Duke fan and they have Kyrie Irving coming in next year. He will prolly stay two years but nothing is guaranteed. Also they are prolly going to end up with 2011 stud Austin Rivers.

I have heard quite the opposite. He will check them out and if they want to be a one and done he'll look for another stud. What I heard is that John Wall wanted to go to Duke and Coach K said, not if it is for just one year.

I wanted to go to Duke too. Coach K said the same thing to me. I decided to screw playing at that time.

Hehe yeah I agree. In all honesty most of the success those teams listed have had in recent years has been on the backs of long term players. Sure they lose some guys in the second and third year relatively often, but that is still a far cry from starting 5 entirely new players every season.

Perhaps the biggest turn in all this is that in 5-10 years all those programs will still have their souls. Kentucky will at some point realize that it is a shell that is far less important than Calipari.

It's all relative. Just put it up there and check your PM occasionally.
