    LOL

I'm betting 2 LOI's for Wednesday! I'm hoping that the 3rd guy sees through all the brown stuff being thrown out there and makes the wise choice. If not I will not be surprised to see a signing shortly after that of another player. There are a few really good guards and wing players out there that we could use the following year.

Do we think it will be tommorrow before signings are confirmed? I kind of thought I would get up this morning and there would be an early article posted on PJSTAR.COM about expected signings.

The past couple years the announcement of receipt of the LOIs was made the afternoon of the first day of the signing period. I suspect we'll hear about Walter Lemon's LOI today. Any others might take a little longer.

There is one slight NCAA rule change..
The NCAA will now allow college basketball coaches to have recruiting conversations during summer camps and clinics on campus.

the previous rule tried to restrict conversations while a kid was on campus during certain periods, the coach could not talk recruiting with the kid..
but that was virtually unenforcable, since where do you draw the line if a kid makes a campus visit and wants to talk to the coach?
          So they eliminated the restrictions....

We still have 2 open scholarships. Slightly concerned. Did we just take the whole recruiting year off?

I think most people think we are in pretty good shape for two of those. We always seem to do well when we have a late scholarship for transfers, or decomits. So I am not worried. I would love to use one for Marshall Henderson or Ben Brust, but I am sure we have some other prospects to look at with the last one. I wouldn't mind another 6'7" or taller player even if we get a big guy.

Kentucky fans hoping to land 4 or 5 FIVE-STAR kids today...
                  Doron Lamb
                  Brandon Knight
                  Enes Kanter
                  #4 ranked CJ Leslie
and #1 ranked nationally Mike Gilchrist (Class of 2011 will sing in fall)

They are also still in the mix for all these FIVE-STAR guys who have yet to decide!!
                  Josh Selby
                  #2 ranked Marquis Teague
                  #3 ranked Quincy Miller
                  #9 Tony Wroten
                  #11 Adonis Thomas
                  #13 Johnny O'Bryant
                  #14 Damien Leonard
                  #15 Ky Madden
                  #20 Quinn Cook
                  #23 Kyle Wiltjer
and #8 ranked Austin Rivers just decommitted from Florida and is expected to be headed to Kentucky..

So they could end up with as many as 5, 6, or 7 FIVE-STAR kids wanting to play at UK!..
even a possibly BETTER recruiting class than last year!!!

Wichita was hoping to be able to land juco All American Marquis Carter who was juco teammate of their incoming center Ehimen Orukpe...
however, Carter just verbaled and will sign with Gonzaga...

Not sure if this matters, because I think either one or both of these guys are walk-ons...
But -- two guys are said to be leaving the Wichita State basketball team...

-Mason Felter, a redshirt sophomore who played some good minutes against BU in Peoria
Mason Felter (11) F - Redshirt Sophomore (2008-09): Redshirted 2008-09 at WSU after transferring from Dodge City Community College.     Dodge City [Kan.]

                    -Bryce Mayes
Bryce Mayes (33) G - At WSU: An excellent student who had basketball success just 30 minutes south of Wichita in Oxford who will be a non-scholarship player. High

WOW - & in this economy to think the UK boosters can come up with the kind of under the table $$$ Calipari needs to get these kids to commit.

There are more rich Kentucky boosters than at any school. That's why they can pay Coach Cal his many millions, and still afford to pay off Gillispie's extra millions. Plus don't discount the shoe money coming from "Worldwide Wes" and other independent brokers.

Let's not carried away here, I believe Harvard has the most millionaires followed by Yale. It's just those schools concern themselves with things that really count and put their money towards the respective endowments of the institutions not the sports program. As I have said all along is that I take the value of an education over any sport accolades. Schools like Duke and Stanford are far above the norm and that is what I'd rather aspire to then a KY.

BTW...On a side note my nephew turned down a full ride to Kentucky for a partial scholarship to Vanderbilt. One smart kid!

I am sure there are a lot of rich alums at those Ivy League schools. But few of them care at all about their athletic teams. I used the term "boosters", because that is where the money comes from for the basketball program, and no program raises and spends as much as Kentucky does on basketball.

I have seen lists before that place Kentucky in a class by themselves as far as revenues and expenditures for basketball. This list shows them in the top 5, but as we've said before, these numbers can be very inaccurate as it's difficult to separate money for the football programs vs, basketball, vs. other sports, plus the coaches salaries may not be included in these figures..-

I guess it kinda makes me laugh that these guys appear, if we are to believe all this, that their decisions are so shaky and that they really just aren't sure...

indeed the #2 ranked kid in the Class of 2010 also verbals to Kentucky, so they now have #1, #2, #4 and more...

Louisville had hired the kid's high school coach but it didn't help.......
