It looks like his contract was pretty good to start off with and now it is as good as most BCS coaching jobs without the hassles. It will take a tier one program to snatch him now. "Stevens had a total compensation package of $750,000 last season."

University president said he would go to a million the other day, so you can pretty much figure his base is near that (so total comp will be like 1.3-1.5)
BU isnt messing around, because it sees how much money you make when playing at that level. (BU did 7-figures in merchandising this Tournament)
With a Top 5 rank for next year, and sitting in the recruiting cat bird's seat for 11 and 12? The University went big and hard to protect the Golden Goose.
10mm renovation at Hinkle is planned too

I think the lack of football keeps them out of the big boys realm of interest.
I never stop thinking:
Butler
Marquette
DePaul
Xavier
Dayton
SLU
Creighton
WSU
Bradley
And one other (Drake, UE??, Valpo)
I think that's a "bigger than MVC (or MWC, A10, CAA, WAC)" and doesn't have the football problem sort of conference.

Butler has put themselves in the cat seat when the whole conference realignment happens. Bradley is in the gray area and it better be prepared to move quickly to put itself in a favorable position when the pieces start moving. I would be completely pissed if we are left out of any upgraded conference that included Butler, Xavier, SLU, Marquette, DePaul and Creighton because those are the teams that are right now in great shape to call their shots.
I would also bet that a conference will open up out east with Georgetown and Villanova leading the way."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

SFP, I think you're right about the "eastern" version of the same thing, including the rest of the top of the A10 and CAA... Not sure that Georgetown might not decide to upgrade their football program though. But I have the same vision... However, my own research indicates that Bradley would be a clear target for any basketball only midwestern conference-- we're kind of a big deal despite the last couple of years, as I see it.

Having lived in DC I just could not see Georgetown putting too much into a football program. Villanova would be a lot closer to upgrading their program and that would not shock me."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

Yeah, that's true. I didn't know they even had a football team before I started my own research into these conferences. I'd think either or both could afford it, and it would simplify things a great deal for the Big East (who, I guess could try to encourage them to do so)... But it's hard to say whether either or both would want to go through all that.
