  • Utah's Marshall Henderson back on the market

At Examiner.com™ we help you excel personal finance, boost income, invest wisely, travel smart, reach financial freedom faster, and enjoy life on a budget.

the program is in "disarray" and "widespread rumors" that head coach Jim Boylen is leaving, and lo & behold Henderson is leaving because "in his view the Utes’ style of play and his didn’t mesh" and "Coach Boylen’s program also has certain rules and restrictions that I respect, but I don’t feel they fit with my individualism".

"It marked the fifth player who has left the program since the season ended in disarray"
..but read further and it appears that some of the vicious things being said by fans has at least something to do with this...<<<

One more thing.....Boylen turned on the press, used foul language, and in other interviews kinda blamed his own players!!

Many will recall Marshall Henderson, a shooting guard from Texas who had Bradley in his final 2 or 3 but chose to go to Utah.

Would absolutely LOVE to see Marshall wearing a BU uniform. He was the guy I wanted above all others when we originally were recruiting him...The kid can flat out shoot.

Don't know that he would consider BU at this point in time...not sure whether he is looking for something closer to home, looking for a higher profile program, etc...but he would be an absolutely awesome get for us if we could somehow get back into his re-recruitment picture...

I'm pretty sure if Utah was winning more and/or the coach wasn't an @ss, the message board stuff would be insignificant. As I have said before, if someone truly isn't choosing somewhere because of what's said on an anonymous internet chat forum, I am not sure I want them anyways.

That aside, I was impressed with Henderson this year and find it hard to believe Ute fans didn't like what they saw from the freshman. I'd certainly take him in a BU uniform in a heartbeat.

        I'll take him

I would think he will transfer closer to home. I would love to have him here though. With Stewart coming in, I could see 3 guards of Stewart,DSE, and Henderson being great. Stewart could drive the lane and dish to an open Henderson. Just a pipe dream I know, but he was a very good player.

P.S. I remember thinking that Utah and SIU were both really loading up and going to be great programs. I would definately take our situation over either of those programs now. shows how things can change fast.

I hope Utah isn't the team we play next year in the MWC-MVC challenge. Please give us one of the other two....especially if we are not playing Butler.

I remember being really excited about Henderson, he seems like a fiery player too from what I saw at Utah this year. Him, JE, DSE, DS, WL in a year or 2! Wow that would be impressive at the guards. Doubt he will want to come this far from home at this point, but I'd take him. Shooters are always a good thing. That group doesn't really have a pure shooter besides maybe JE, as impressive as they all are. MH would bring that for sure.

I know Houston and UTEP both have new coaches. I bet they are possibilties for him.

Id be very happy to see him in a braves uniform and if calls about a transfer I sure hope we'd talk it over with him.

JMHO.....but lets say JW doesn't come here....take that ride for MH to transfer and sit a year with the other ride going to the BIG! Works for me!

I agree with your thinking, Mike.
After 2010-2011 we lose DD, SM, and AW and will need to restock with a couple more guards. MH would be the kind of guard that would look great in Bradley's offense. We know he liked Coach Les and Bradley, since BU was one of his visits, and it came down between Bradley and Utah. One factor favoring Utah was that his close high school friend went to Utah to play football. That must not be a factor any more. I hope Henderson gives JL a call.

Could not agree more! As I said, give me a true big who loves to eat paint breakfast, lunch and dinner and we should be real solid! Then the following year Harris is schedule to come in, so I'd be happy with someone who can light it up from the 3.

Not only would this be good IMO, but probably ideal if JW doesn't come. We get a guy with a years experience under his belt, that would start playing when we lose 3 guards.

The group of guards we have even beyond next year is very talented, but lacks a great 3 shooter unless JE can develop to be that guy (I think he can and is a better shooter than he showed this year). DSE, DS, WL, and even JE this past year seem to all be slashing guards first. MH would be that great shooter and he is also a very fiery player, a good thing for this Bradley team to have.

Imagine DS, DSE and WL finishing at the rim or kicking it to MH and JE for 3's. I haven't seen DS or WL other than what I have read but DSE turned into a pretty good 3 shooter on top of his driving ability too. Wow would those 5 guards be great together!

This would be the next best thing to getting JW and would ease my pain of losing him a ton.

It's been a few days. Have you heard anything about BU/JL being contacted by Henderson?

I have heard there may be transfers interested in BU, but not MH.
