  • I was thinking that he could petition the NCAA to let him have the 4th year since he never played....that can't be what t is talking about though. So I don't know. The 1/2 semester also confuses me, because Legion did have 2 1/2 years remaining but he started the second half of a year so it makes sense. JW would end up ending on the 1st semester, so it would make no sense to have him play the first half of a year.

Also at GoBirds comment of having him sit out the first half of a year. I thought about that more and that couldn't be done anyway because his clock is already ticking so it wouldn't help to sit out the first half of the year.

          THIS SUCKS.

HOW EMBARRASSING....this was so backdoor it isn't even funny.

I blinked and missed it nearly.

            • Why are you all freaking out? He had a picture of a building named after his dad, big deal. That doesn't mean he is going to ISU. I had a picture of me and my friend at Minute Maid Park, but that doesn't mean I'm an Astros fan.

I would agree, no reason to freak out. It was a building with his name on it, of course he's going to take a picture next to it. I would do the same, I don't think it means anything though.

                • "Wilkins Hall was named after Daniel Wilkins, Principal of the Wilkins Female Academy in Bloomington. Daniel Wilkins helped establish Illinois State Normal University and free public schools in Illinois. He was a member of the Teachers College Board from 1857-60 and the first Superintendent of Schools in McLean County in 1860. Wilkins Hall opened in 1964."

I lived in Wilkins Hall my Freshman year at ISU. They had a plaque just in the doorway that gives a little bit more information, but this is all I could find on an ILSTU website.

I agree with your post except for seeing JW at IL State. I believe that JW is around 2-3 weeks from making a decision.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I think he may decide next week at the earliest, but he better be worth all the hype he's causing at both schools. Although either fan base would get a kick out of him being a major flop at the other school.

                      • If he goes to ISU after all of this, that would be a massive blow to Bradley and the program.

Maybe a bit of a depressing thought, but "massive blow", I don't think so.
Bradley will overcome it if he does.

Bradley was 1-1 in the NIT and had nearly as many total wins and far more postseason wins overall (8-4), went 4-4 in the head to head vs. ISU, and outdrew them in home attendance by 200%.
I will be sad if JW picks ISU, but four years from now, I will not be wailing and gnashing, I am sure....
The record comparison is much more fair during the Osiris era at Illinois State. Attendance, however, should not be involved. Illinois State was coming off of years of disappointment since the late 90s while Bradley came off a Sweet 16 appearance in 2006. Attendance cannot be used because of where the 2 programs were when Osiris came to campus.

                              • I am wondering how a guy goes from "50+ offers" or whatever it was, to 2 confirmed and maybe 2 more? Especially with the glut of players leaving early for the draft...

The Juco thing couldn't have helped, but if all works out he still has 3 years...
