  • John Wilkins to visit isu this weekend

From the PJ Star/Dave Reynolds- John Wilkins to visit ISU this weekend

Here is the Pantagraph article where this news comes from-

Can't be sure how to take this news, since we already knew it would probably happen.
But the way I see it, it's not bad news, since it suggests he is not near a decision where he wants to go, or he wouldn't be taking a visit to another school (ISU) that before now he has not even considered. So I think the Wilkins' must still be considering Bradley.

the two stories differ, though, as the PJ Star one includes this comment...
"..he ..has committed and de-committed to Iowa State."

Hmmm..I thought we have been through this.....even Dave Reynolds is contradicting himself when he quoted Jeff Wilkins:
"Jeff Wilkins, the father of Bradley recruit John Wilkins, told the Journal Star on Wednesday
that his son has not committed to Iowa State and his recruitment is still open.
"He's not committed to Iowa State," Jeff Wilkins said."

Most reports say he never did verbal to Iowa State and that he never "committed then de-committed"

Wilkins at ISU is the last thing I want to see. But it makes sense. If he would have never considered BU at all and then ended up ISU it wouldn't be that bad.

          BOOM goes the dynamite?

Really, I am not sure what to think of this either other than like you said DC, we should have expected this to occur at some point.

I have a bad feeling about this, especially since he might be tagging along with Cousins this weekend. Do you think he might be an influence on JW to join the 'Birds? A tough break for BU - we thought we'd have him next season and now he might be our rival! I think most of us would rather have him go anywhere but I.S.U.

After Bradley has held a scholarship open for this long based on his commitment, him going to ISU would be unthinkable. This would be a major disappointment to say the least...........

If he has any academic integrity, which we all have heard he does, then it really is a no-brainer which school he'll choose. I agree ISU red would be just about the last place I would want him at. I can't even imagine the implications or I can and his trips to Carver would be one for the history books.

                    Next Year

I'd hate to lose him and getting him and a big man would be awsome. I still think getting an inside player would make the most difference on the team winning next year. It will hurt when he goes somewhere else. After I get over it I can finally get excited about the recruits we get if it is what we need.

                    I'd still take him though.

If my dad went to ISU and they did not treat him with respect then why even bother. They would be last on my list!

My personal opinion is that JW has been through so much regarding the NCAA ruling with his eligibility etc, that he is simply taking his time and making as many visits as he can before he makes an important decision. My guess along with other opinions on this board is that he is leaning toward IU. Wherever JW ends up, I think that we will be good next year.

I've been saying / thinking this all along....once he started visiting other schools, not returning phone calls from Peoria media, not coming to any BU games, not mentioning BU in any interviews....I still find it hard to believe JW will be a Brave next fall.

                            This smells of Eric Gordon/UI/IU.

                            I'm dubiously cautious.

I have to say that if he went anywhere else besides BU, then ISU is fine by me. This would certainly keep this message board very busy. It would also give us 2-3 opportunities each year to show him the mistake he made. Additionally, if he is as good as some say, then isn't that better for the MVC? Before I get slammed, I do realize we couldn't beat ISU this year without Wilkins.
