SIU gets commitment from juco guard

SIU got their first 2010-2011 commitment from 6' shooting guard Troy Long of Southeastern Illinois College. He will have 2 years of eligibility left.
Long averaged 11.8 points and 2.3 assists per game for SIC as a sophomore. He shot 40.5% on threes.

There is not much more information available on Long. He must be "under the radar", as most recruiting services, including ones focused on junior college players don't have him listed.

Lowery has long been under some pressure regarding recruiting, and hadn't landed any interest from anyone for his 2010 signing class.........

But they were pretty deep in guards, until the rumors of Dillard leaving......
so now he's gotta be desperate...
This kid is listed at 6-0, 165 lbs...and he's not a point guard....and he ranks 4th on his juco team in both scoring and assists.

Next fall they will start the season with at least four juco players...and still a couple more open scholarships to fill.

I thought the same team tornado. It appears that Lowery knows he will be losing some key players to defection and, at this late stage in the recruiting process, is trying to find anybody with some experience to fills some holes for a year or two.

I felt like as the season went on, Brown-Surles became their PG and was effective...

I know he was good but he never played well against us so I was never that impressed with him.

I suspect he will not be playing the 5 or 4 so perhaps, if he can guard a 3, he'll be a complete mismatch. 6'-7" small forwards with energy is not a bad thing.
