More on message boards

I won't say where I get this from but I'll give you the link if you want me to...
but I don't want to be accused of being anti-anyone in particular...
But - this comes right from the premium message board of a nearby top BCS institution......

There are several threads that run together saying they should fire their coach and hire Butler's Brad Stevens...etc..
but then the conversation turns to a radio interview where where the school's former coach and their AD are both quoted as saying...
"the message boards and forums are a real problem for the school..."
"... I had read people on (the boards) saying they wanted (the current had coach) out and wanted Brad Stevens as the next ...coach"

The former coach then proceeded to get very mad in the interview..."got mad right away called them idio*ts and said how much that is hurting the school.... hurting their (recruiting) process by the things they say on message forums...."

(these quotes are cut and pasted - so I didn't make them up) so apparently some message boards do not set well with the people in charge at the schools...:-o:-o

All I can say it is a free country and freedom to say what you like is part of the American way of life!:idea: I guess if they were savvy enough they would find a way to use the new media to their advantage because it is not going away.

elsewhere I posted where a certain D-I head coach told me he was very impressed with the board Bradley has and he truly wished his own team had fans with that kind of fervor and dedication -- I kid you not...
but it can obviously go overboard...and if unbridled criticism and attacks, especially on players and coaches is allowed, it can hurt the team and the recruiting.

I didn't make this up...it comes directly from the words of their own people at the above school, claiming publicly that attacks on players and coaches are "hurting the school" and "the recruiting process"..
We are not talking free speech here, what we're talking about is people who claim to be fans of XXX University, but whose actions are damaging the very school they claim to support!
It speaks for a little personal responsibility among the fans........

Looks like something I posted a few months ago? Totally agree!
