Oklahoma launches internal investigation into alleged violations

Oklahoma's athletic department has opened an investigation following reports that basketball player Tiny Gallon received money from a Florida financial adviser.

The big problem for OU is that they are already on NCAA probation for numerous violations in their football and basketball programs.
But as we've seen before, probation means something much different for the BCS boys. It usually means that if there are more violations the probation will just be extended a bit. If a small school encounters violations while on probation, it usually means far more serious penalties.

The university has declined requests to interview basketball coach Jeff Capel.... what would KW say about that?

as I said in another thread where this was first discussed more than a couple weeks ago..
this is NOT just inadvertent overpay for a summer job....
but news of this existed as far back as mid-February...

Gallon was held out of the Feb. 13 game due to an "internal matter" but there were already suspicions of Gallon being paid by agents even at that time......
"Two days after the OU-OSU game (2/13/10), the Tulsa World requested
information through the Oklahoma Open Records Act pertaining to Gallon's
eligibility, his potential contact with an agent, and the possibility he had
violated NCAA extra benefits legislation. OU responded to the request.
However, it did not release information"

In other words....even though there were strong suspicions months ago this kid took big time money from agents, and that the folks at Oklahoma HAD TO have known about it
because the Tulsa World alerted them to it...they still let him play and finish out the season - and refused to let anyone else know what they knew about the cheating!!

NOTE -- that Oklahoma IS STILL on NCAA probation due to all their cheating going all the way back to Kelvin Sampson...and it is obvious they were hoping to keep
these new violations quiet since they are at risk for more severe penalties if caught cheating again while on probation...
(generally if it's a BCS school, they'll only get a little extension of probation as I have proven time and time again!)

Check out the facts...they are pretty strong...including confirmed reports of several thousand dollars being placed in the account of Gallons mommy...
It is only fair if they are cheating while still on probation from cheating, they should be hit hard with severe penalties...
Then..maybe the NCAA should LOOK INTO all that money that was given to OJ Mayo and Reggie Bush!!! (why are they still looking the other way five years later??)

Despite solid evidence that at least one and probably two Oklahoma players took money before or while playing at OU...

the Oklahoma people have done their own "internal investigation" and guess what they found...?

They found that their program is squeaky clean and nothing transpired!!!
(...they only reported a mere 50 supposedly secondary violations!!! -- JUST FIFTY!!)
Sure......and Kelvin Sampson claimed he hadn't done a thing wrong!!!!

Oklahoma YET AGAIN commits serious major NCAA violations while still on probation from the last TWO times they committed MAJOR violations stretching back to Kelvin Sampson..


So -- since they have now committed more violations a 2nd time while on probation each time guess what Oklahoma is asking for...(and will probably get...again)

so...what good is repeated additions to their probation if they keep committing violations and just get more probation?

Yup -- just as predicted -- NCAA says Oklahoma committed multiple serious major violations -
while they were on probation already -- and the ruling simply adds more probation!!!
