  • Marijuana Use Increases In The 2010 NFL Draft Class

If the background checks of the college players in the upcoming NFL Draft is a reliable indicator, it appears that marijuana use is dramatically increasing among college football players. It would not seem much of stretch to think that a similar trend would be be happening with other college sports, e.g., basketball, as well.

Here is an excerpt from the Sports Illustrated article:
"Marijuana use is almost epidemic, with more guys having tested positive for marijuana at some point in their college background than I can ever remember,'' said a longtime team personnel man. "It's almost as if we are having to figure out a new way to evaluate it as part of the character and background report, because it's so prevalent."

Great post Dallas. Sadly, this does not surprise me.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Why have we not heard anything from the NCAA about these failed tests, now that is disturbing that college players who get caught are still able to play!

To say pot is harmless is a injustice to all the kids out there. I'm for the legalization but there needs to be some limits put on it and society on a whole needs to be informed of the good and bad. Just saying it is no worse then alcohol or cigarettes is not doing our society any favors.
