  • NCAA Tournament commercials

Almost as fun as watching the Super Bowl commercials except after a day or so some of them become VERY tiresome.

If anyone wants to compliment or trash any of these commercials, feel free to do so.

I'll start with the most annoying ones. Most obviously that awful SWA commercial with the barechested baggage handlers. I'm not a big fan of the deoderant commercial with the girl mimicking the chimp and rubbing her hands in her boyfriend's hair!

And as good as the recycled BWW commercial is, at least they have a new one running mimicking a severe thunderstorm, though not as good as the original.

OH, any of the Bud Light commericals with the guys having trouble showing their love to their significant others. That makes us guys look bad!

My favorite is the Corona Light commercial when the guy gets squirted with the lime from his significant other for checking out the blond!

That's good, but also has been around for awhile.

I forgot the product, but I like the one with Jim Nantz chewing out a guy because his girlfriend talked him into shopping instead of letting him watching the game. He implied that the guy was a wimp for giving in to her, but I don't blame the guy so much. The girl in that commercial is HOT!

FLOtv. Yeah, that's a pretty good one, despite the fact that I don't really care for Nantz.

          "How about lavender?"
          "How about not..."

Is anyone else a little tired of the Ivan Brothers commercials?

For weeks leading up to the NCAA tournament, there were commercials promoting the story of the Ivan Brothers- a couple of huge lumbering medieval Viking-type guys (supposedly 7'2" and 7'8") who are recruited to play for West Eastern State University. They dominate basketball games, and lead the school to an unlikely NCAA tournament bid.

Here is their promo story, and it was good (6 minute video clip but very funny)-
Capital One provides a broad range of financial products and services from personal credit cards or business credit cards, savings accounts, to auto loans. See how Capital One can help you with your banking and financial needs: https://www.capitalone.com/

Now that we see the actual commercials themselves, they are all similar, repetitive, boring, and not very funny.

I don't like any of those "Crapital" One Viking commercials going back the last couple of years. I don't find these guys funny, and most of their bits are cringeworthy (ie: Viking skier hanging upside down off the ski lift!).

The only thing funny about the Ivan Brothers commercials is their reference to some unknown directional school making the tournament. Otherwise I'd be happy never to see these commercials again.

I'll take those annoying Progressive Insurance commercials over Captial One any day!

Or another series I like are the commercials done by Ally Bank where a slick-talking executive guy tricks kids with promises of a horse, a bike, or a toy, then places restrictions on them that take away the ability to use the gift-

They are very simple and well done, and I get a laugh every time I see them when they show the poor kids' faces.

Funny that these Ally commercials probably only cost a couple thousand dollars to make, and the Ivan Brothers commercials cost millions to produce. Seems like a huge waste of money by Capital One when the banking industry is crying poverty and asking for bailouts.

Probably the best commercial of all mentioned in terms of a company spending for advertising dollars... -- Instant name recognition for the company and people will have a perceived idea/benefit about flying Southwest.--
                    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

" a couple thousand dollars ...?" Trust me, no national TV commercial gets produced for less than $250,000.

"His girlfriend has removed his spine, rendering him incapable of watching the game."

                        Great stuff!

Although if I had to choose between the Flo TV and the girl, I'd take the girl every time!

Who needs a girl like that? There are plenty of other fishes out there. My GF gives me grief about watching games but I just ignore her. It's really Flo TV or get a spine! The spine is cheaper anyway you look at it.

True, but maybe the art of "negotiation" would work too. Basically you let me watch X number of games and I'll spend X amount of time looking for lavender candles!

                            Then again, maybe not!

Compromise! We all do it if we want a happy home.
