  • Evansville gets a verbal

Evansville got it's first verbal commitment for 2010- Matt Peeler, a 6'6" power forward from Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado. According to the NJCAA stats website, he lead the Otero team with 12.6 ppg and 9.8 rpg. He shot 48.8% from the field, and did not attempt a 3-pointer all year.

He is listed at 6'8", 230 pounds-

Rivals/Jucojunction lists him at 6'6", 185 pounds, quite a difference. He must have grown.-

I'm really pulling for Evansville to get that proud program back on track. It'd be good for the Valley to have its bottom dwellers get healthy. Lets not forget, it wasn't too long ago that UNI was a terrible team...a few recruits, better coaching...and now you have a team that's gotten national acclaim.

Let's keep them in the bottom half of the Valley for next year at least. We need some more wins next season.
I think we need the 2nd-5th teams to be strong next year and have them win some road games. Very bad road records this past season for the top-half teams.

Too bad he has the E-Ville job...

Would have been perfect for the #1 assistant job as a guy who can flat out coach defense and someone who worked well with the bigs at SIUE and has developed some talent at E-Ville

I am not sure I can agree with this. maybe he will prove to be a great coach, but so far, he hasn't accomplished much. If our coaching staff had the record Marty has had at Evansville over these last 3 seasons (35-56 with two 21-loss seasons, and the cupboard was far from bare), there would be a lynch mob marching on Haussler Hall.

I dunno, DC. Not a lot of talent playing for Marty, but when I was watching E'Ville this year, they moved away from the ball as well as any team I saw in the MVC. Our players were just chasing guys around screens all the time. I kept thinking to myself that it was a good thing that they don't have a lot of talent, or they might just be beating us.
