This is a great read on how the Valley is retaining coaches for the long term.

That's a little bit funny.......I'm not sure if Katz is being naive or just twisting the story line to his purpose...
First, he acts like no coaches ever leave the Valley for greener pastures...at least not in recent memory, when that's ridiculous! The MVC is a virtually breeding ground for coaches in the Big Ten and elsewhere...just check my list of coaches who have jumped to higher paying jobs...
Then Dana did leave Creighton for the better pay & bigger stage at Arkansas!
They act like he never left because he was loyal to Creighton...but that's not true...he only returned when he realized that his job at Arkansas was to clean up a mess of academic fraud, poor grades, and a rape allegation or two!!
The Chris Lowery isn't likely getting big time job offers now that he's shown he cannot win with his own players!
if guys like Jake & Marshall (who already has jumped when the time was right at winthrop) turned down the Iowa job, it's because they are hoping to parlay their success into something better - as Iowa has virtually nothing in the cupboard!
Then they compare the MVC coaches to Butler - but every successful Butler coach has jumped after their success (Lickliter, Matta, Collier)...and Brad Stevens will be no different...wait and see....

I'm not sure about Brad Stevens though. Sure he will get a wad of cash waved in his face from schools looking for a quick rebuilding job, but that doesn't mean he would necessarily leave soon. For every coach that leaves, there has to be some that stick around other than Mark Few or Dana Altman. I could very well be proven wrong, but I wouldn't be shocked if Stevens sticks around for the long haul.
Of course I thought the same about Fran McCaffery of Siena, but lo and behold, he took the Iowa job today, so who knows!

I believe there has been a bunch of coaches that have jumped for the bigger pay day and have rued the the day. The blue print if you are a Ben Jacobson or Brad Stevens is wait until one of the premier jobs open up. To jump at a BCS school that is not historically a basketball school and spends the most part in the middle or back of the pack is usually where it will stay. Show me more then a handful of BCS school that has a great football program, dominated by football that have a consistent b-ball program.
Texas recently
Michigan use to?
WVU basketball program is getting there
Ohio State YES
Florida has lost their basketball luster in recent years"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

Wisky has been good in both but never really great but I'd give them the benefit because they have top 25 program in both sports pretty consistently. One of the few."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
