  • Bill Self on the Hot Seat?

That's the talk, believe it or not on the Kansas board!!

Here are a few comments, since you might be able to get this..

"How many more early round faceplants would it take.... for Bill to be on the hot seat? I'm thankful for the national championship, but I can't take much more of these early exits."

"five year rule. If he face-plants in 2013 there will be blood"

"there is a very clear pattern here, and it's something a good coach should be able to figure out. And to be at KU, you need to be a GREAT coach.
..And if that last shot by Davidson goes in, over 75% of this board would be calling for Self's head right now, let's not pretend otherwise.
Self does almost everything else right. He's got this one Achilles heal: good, but not great, mid-majors that play disciplined"

"someday Bill Self will leave KU and when that day comes I will be quite sad to see him go."

"Find me a coach who has struggled to this extent in the tournament against these teams the way Self has...I certainly hope he doesn't take your "meh, schidt happens" approach, because he will never fix the problem that way. The first step is admitting there is a problem."

and plenty more...on and on for 8 pages..

BTW-- anyone who still doubts the big networks kiss up to the BCS-ers...
Kansas University basketball coach Bill Self traveled to New York City on Friday night for his weekend stint as NCAA Tournament studio analyst for CBS. “I’d rather be in St. Louis,” said Self, who, instead of coaching his Jayhawks in the NCAA Midwest Regional semifinals and finals, will join Greg Gumbel, Greg Anthony and Seth […]

Again, more disrespect towards the mid-majors, with a fan base that like Kentucky's thinks it's their God-given right to win championships every year! Well, it doesn't work like that in the real world. They have to earn each championship, and for Bill Self to be blamed for these early losses is very disturbing.

If not Bill Self, then who else would these people want?

3 first weekend exits in 6 years at a blueblood like Kansas is often a warning sign.

Yeah, but they still are just one year removed from a championship. How many mid-majors would kill for just one championship in 50 years?!

Remember, this is Kansas. They expect constant greatness, and the expectations for that program is not comparable to basically any other program in the country save the likes of UK, Dook, UNC, and a couple others.

That's right. Hence my "God-given right" comment above.

Hopefully JG has Self's cell phone number if he becomes available!

Not that I am a JL hater or anything!

always trying to get in the news, Bill Self does an interview with the CHICAGO TRIBUNE...
in this interview he makes a great comment........

"The great thing about me, if there is one," Self said, "is that I have no ego."
