On March 28, 1950, Bradley lost 71-68 to CCNY in the NCAA Tournament Championship. Bradley had beaten Kansas, UCLA, and Baylor on their way to the championship game.

The same two teams had met earlier, on March 18, 1950 in the championship game of the NIT, and CCNY beat Bradley in that game 69-61.
