I think DaCoach was responding to your comment about the police potentially targeting Eddren since he decided to leave. That's not what happened since the arrest happened first and then Eddren's leaving was announced.
Sad that a drug less harmful than alcohol gets so many in trouble. Fishy that this happens a day or two after he leaves. I wonder if he was targeted because of his decision to leave.
gotta agree with you there G. It's much more irresponsible to get in a car after a bunch of beers than to get caught with a little green. In fact, outside the midwest, depending on the amount the punishment is basically the equivalent to a traffic violation. See Tim Lincecum case.
I'm not saying it wasn't stupid or that he shouldn't be kicked off the team (ahem), I mean transferring, but there are worse things than possessing a relatively harmless substance.

Well, I hope for his sake he gets the help he needs to shake this habit. Marijuana is not as "harmless" a drug as many think, but I believe EM is young enough and smart enough to get his life turned around. Maybe this will be the wake-up call he needed to get things straightened out.
And like I said yesterday, I still wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors.
Wow, not good. At all. Really makes me wonder what kind of grasp Les has on his players after this and some of the other things I see on a common basis in Peoria.
They're big boys. They should know not to do things like this.
What I like about Les in situations like this is that he sends a stern message each time something like this happens. Maybe some feel that Les should implement harsh curfews or babysit his players 24 hours a day, but I don't buy that. Besides, tell me what John Calipari or Bob Huggins would have done if EM was on their teams (and very fitting they are playing each other tomorrow night!).
Oh, I can give that answer right now.......NOTHING!
Glad I didn't post earlier, like I was going to, and tell EM how much we would miss him and wish him good luck. All I can say is goodbye and good riddance. Coach Les is a good man and doesn't deserve the critisism he is getting because you didn't know when you had it made.
I think it seems like a program changing some things that haven't worked the last couple years to make next year everything it can be. I see a great next couple years, and think we are just setting the tone for those great years. As far as EB leaving, EM leaving, and attendance waning those are happening at every school, and the EB thing was for nothing bad or negative to my knowledge.
So I guess you can take change as one of two ways: An opportunity for great things to happen, or a bad sign of things to come. I prefer to look at it the first way.

I agree Chico Les is a good man......I haven't heard anyone being critical of him though.

Maybe no one has come out and said so on this board yet, but you know as well as I do the Les dislikers, better than using the word haters, are eating this up.
Two coaches either dismissed or leaving the program...one in the middle of the season, a player leaving or more likley dismised for drugs, one player suspended THREE times in the same year, attendance waning, lackluster crowds, multiple home losses after leading all those games, canceling of the traditional end of year banquet banquet, another year of NO NCAA tournament, another year of 5th place MVC, another year of NO Valley final appearance.......THAT is a ship taking on water. Life jacket please......

Yeah, but these things will take care of themselves if Bradley finishes at or near the top of the Valley next year, which most fans will expect them to do.
A sinking ship would be more like an average team losing five seniors, and three new recruits transferring to another school. I don't think we are that far in the hole, and a good year next year will help big time.
Plus we don't even know why the year end banquet was cancelled, so I won't even include that on this list.
Do we know how bad this "habit" is? How bad is Jordan Egleseder's habit of getting behind the wheel drunk that got him three games? I don't remember many saying that he needs to get his life straightened out.
I'm not excusing anyone else's problems just because they were dealt with differently. I'm sorry, but the "habit" you speak of is as serious as driving drunk! I'm sorry people view marijuana as a "minor" infraction, but drugs are drugs, legal or illegal. It's not good to be taking them, and I most certainly don't want the person driving next to me or behind me high on weed!
First off very disappointed in EM. Second, I don't blame JL at all. I commend him for disciplining his players fairly. I want my school disciplined tough, I don't want just anybody representing us. JL gets bashed by some for this, but he could cover stuff up, lie, and have loose guidelines like many other schools. Because this happens everywhere I'm sure, and we don't hear about it as much other places. We generally have good people as players under JL representing our program who are held up to a higher standard and I like it that way. I hope EM straightens out his life and this mistake and gets on the right track.
I am also surprised at how many are condoning illegal activities and drugs on here. It is still a harmful substance, I thought fans of our university expected more.
Thank you on both counts! You can't blame JL for someone's poor decision. And the condoning of drugs, no matter how "minor" people make them, is NEVER a good thing. Marijuana alters one's perception of the world around them, and for that reason alone I don't want anyone driving under the influence. Besides, at the very least, if one takes that stuff long enough, the cancer and/or heart issues will follow sooner or later, not to mention "graduation" up to the harder stuff in many cases.
I've heard rumblings from sources early in the season that EM had been involved with marijuana, so this is no real surprise. IMO, this seems to be an ongoing issue with this young man and he needs to get help to overcome this problem. There is no doubt in my mind that it affected his ability to play at a high level. I play in a league with a young guy (not by choice, we were drafted to the same team) that from time to time gets "high". I can always tell when he has recently smoked, his whole demeanor changes, his level of play drops way off, he often looks lost on the court, and he routinely makes terrible mistakes leading to careless turnovers. When he's not high, he is hands down one of the best shooters and all around players in our league.
Its ironic that there were few times when McCain was in the game this season that my Dad who had no knowledge of any involvement from McCain with marijuana looked at me and said, "If I didn't know any better, I'd say he's been smoking dope." It's all becoming clearer and clearer now.
I personally dont care if this kid is BU basketball player or not. This is a young man that has some problems and needs help and guidance. If anyone remembers this kids history and what he has been through in his short life you would understand why he might have problems. This kid has faced more issues than I have and I am three times older than him.
BU basketball player or not I am pulling for him and I will keep him in my prayers.......
